Baked Ziti Dinner

September 15, 2010 By Melanie Roberts 1 Comment

I know I’m way late in posting this and I have to apologize upfront that I don’t have any pictures. My husband cooked this last week when I got sick and I didn’t care about food, and just now remembered that he cooked that and I should post it… So next time I make this, I will add the pictures. We love this simple yet great meal.

Remember Publix is having the Cream Cheese on sale for $1.25 with the Kraft Coupon will make the cheese $.25; This is a cheap meal; Less then $5 if you buy the items on sale I wrote the price next to them when I stock up to give you an idea how much this meal is.

Baked Ziti Dinner

Ingredients:

1 Box Pasta ( Ziti, elbows, whatever you like) $.25 ( I buy my pasta when they are on sale and with coupons)
1 package Italian Sausage ($2.50 on sale )
1 onion ( finely diced)
2 minced Garlic
1 Jar Spaghetti Sauce or Tomato Sauce ($.40 on sale and with coupons)
1 package Shredded Cheese ($.66 on sale and with coupons)
1 package of Cream Cheese Cut into cubes ($.25 on sale and with coupons ; sale this week at Publix)
1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese

Cook you pasta and drain, add to a baking dish; Heat Oven to 350

Brown your sausage, onion and garlic;

Mix  the Spaghetti Sauce, the cubed Cream Cheese, 1/2 the shredded Cheese  & the cooked Sausage mixture, add to the pasta, stir ( you can fancy layer it pasta, then sauce, then pasta, but I like to mix it, easier faster and just as yummy), add the remaining cheese on top, top with Parmesan Cheese, cover the dish with Aluminum Foil and put in the oven for 30 min.

Add a veggie or salad and garlic bread and dinner is served….Sooo yummy and so different; the cream cheese makes this a great mixture. At first when I saw it I wasn’t gonna try it, who cooks with cream cheese and then in spaghetti… weired, we tried it anyway and will not cook it any other way… we LOVE it….Use different sausage for a different taste.
