If you remember a few weeks ago I reviewed Find King Henry’s Treasure , this week I have a book from the same “Touch the Art” Series by Julie Appel.
Count Monet’s Lilies
Just like the previous book we fell in love with it the moment we got it. At first I was again hesitant if it’s a good book, and I just wasn’t sure if I would care for it. I don’t have much of an interest in Art, but we loved it.
My Toddler is totally in love with the different ribbons and flowers that she can touch on the pictures. My favorite part was on one of the pictures Called ” Still Life with Apples” you have a smelly spot where you can actually rub and smell the lemon, or on the picture called “Fishing Boats on the beach” it has a cut out in the picture and you can feel the sand… This book is soo cool.
Besides a cool touch and feel book, it is also a learning book. Each page tells a short poem/ story about the picture on the page and it always makes the child count for items, like “Eight boats return from a long, windy day. Four on the beach and four in the bay.” or “Stop by the shop and see the fancy hats. Count all six then give the sash a pat.”…. this is such a wonderful interactive learning book. My toddler loves to sit on her own and just touch the Art and look around.
I think this book is good for almost all ages, there are so many different ways to interact with the book besides just sitting and reading the story. This book would be a nice addition to any Home Library. You can check it out on the authors website or on Amazon.com.
