Organize & Clean it Monday: Sock Sacs Review

January 10, 2011 By Melanie Roberts 2 Comments

I’m a Clean and organizing machine, if I don’t work, Blog or spend time with my little ones, I clean, clean clean and organize organize organize. I know I drive my family crazy, but I guess that’s just the German “Hausfrau” in me.

Sunday is laundry day in our house and the whole family chips in, even hubby. I kind of have to admit that hubby does 90% of the laundry 🙂 but after he sorts the laundry the boys are responsible for hanging up their cloth and sorting their socks.

Socks.. I know that’s my problem with the laundry lately. I buy socks over and over and over, and for some reason my machine loves to eat the socks, I just don’t know where else all the socks would go. But frankly I’m tiered of feeding my wash machines addiction to kids socks. There has to be a way to keep all the socks together and yet still get them clean and not have one missing sock every time I wash. we all have those “missing Sock” baskets in our laundry room. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to remove the basked completely and not have to worry about a missing sock?

I think Cathy is on to something, she is the founder of Sock Sacs ; She is a mother of 3, a wonderful wife to her husband Bob and in the USAF for over 19 years, she is super mom. The difference between her and I, she came up with an idea to save all those “lost” socks and have every single sock come back to the drawer.

Her idea is simple, yet a wonderful product. It’s called Sock Sac ; I love products invented by Mom’s for Mom’s, they just work and are wonderful. This Sock sac isn’t any different. We got our Sock Sac in the mail the other day and just out of the package, we knew we would love them.

Each of the kids picked a color of choice, then I hang each Sock Sac in their room, with the hook that comes with the Sock Sac, how cool is that. Once the hooks were attached to the doors ( that’s where we put ours, you can stick them anywhere you like), each kid was instructed to add all their dirty socks after they take them off… well my toddler kind of miss understood and immediately took her sock drawer and emptied the entire drawer into the sack, she was soo proud :-);

So here we had the sock sac and all the kids collected their socks for the past few days, laundry day came and guess what, the entire sack goes in the wash, the way my kids handed it to me that’s how I tossed it in. We tested the  Sock Sac and it will not change color with bleach, or fade and make your socks green or blue.. nope.. it held up really good in the wash. I was amazed!!

Once the socks got washed, we took the entire sack and put them in the drier, one sock sac in  one hand.. done.. turn on the drier and do what you usually do…. Now here is the part that I LOVED, once they are dry.. pull out each Sock Sac, hand them to the kids and Say “put up your socks”… you don’t have to sit there and match each sock, figure out, is this the tween, teen or toddler sock or where did this one sock go…. NOPE …. everyone’s socks are neatly in the Sock Sac ( providing your Tween or teen added them all..lol)…. I LOVED it!!! Saved me soo much time looking for socks, sorting socks… I now can just let the boys put their socks together while I spend time with the toddler.

Once the socks are sorted, none are missing, they are all there ( again, proving all went in the sock Sac… no magic here, they won’t appear or disappear on it’s own..:-) ) you can hang up the Sock Sac again and start all over again till next laundry day….

How cool is that.. and Why didn’t I think of that???

The Sock Sac itself is made out of very high quality mesh in colors you and your kids will love; the sack is sewn very  high quality, we pulled and even played tag o’ war and it held up, the toddler added a ton of socks and it did really well. Very High quality product I must say, I’m impressed.. I think this is one of the products that are a MUST in every home, it’s a time saver, a money saver and it will teach children sorting skills, responsibility and so much more… overall a wonderful product.

I know you want one now, too.. you can get your own at SockSacs and they retail for $9.99

I was  provided with the product listed above for my honest review No other compensation was received. All opinions are 100 % my own.

    WOW! What a really neat idea! I know my poor baby never gets matching socks because they are all over the house! These look like really good quality & what a great way to organize them!
