I know on Fun Saturday I usually make fun things with the kids, but today I decided to feature one of our favorite Halloween recipes.. the kids always get a kick out of this… so for the next few weeks I will showcase Halloween Ideas to get you in the Spoookkktakular Moood 🙂
You Need:
Black Spaghetti Noodles ( you can buy them already Black, but they are very expensive, here is a trick to make them Black buy BLACK icing paste at the grocery store or here on Amazon and add that too your water while they are cooking, depending on how much you add the darker they get… How cool is that, we did that many times)
1 Jar Pasta Sauce ( any kind will do, whatever is your favorite)
1 ½ cups Breadcrumbs
2 lbs ground beef ( or anything you like, Â like chicken, turkey, pork)
2 Table Spoons Ketchup ( I always use more)
2 tablespoons Mustard
1 Egg
1 table Spoon Oil to grease the pan
Seasoning to taste
1 Jar Green olives with Red filling ( can’t remember the name)
How to Make it:
Pre-Heat oven to 350 F and cook pasta per instructions ( if you want black ones make sure to add the black icing paste to the water), heat Pasta Sauce.
Mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, ketchup, mustard, egg(s) any seasoning you may like for your “eyeballs”, mix all well, if mixture is too dry add another egg if too soft add more breadcrumbs, form into “eyeballs” and place on a greased baking pan, in the middle of each “eyeball” push an Olive make sure the red filling is on the outside.
Bake in the oven for 45 min (keep checking some ovens are faster, I use convection and sometimes they are done in 30 min).
Once the Pasta is done and the “eyeballs” are truly cooked,  Add the pasta to your plate, top with the “eyeballs” and add the Blood ( Spaghetti Sauce)…. Dinner is Spooktacular today…Enjoy

That’s pretty neat.. even without making the ‘eyeballs’, the black pasta would be pretty cool!

Looks like I’m using my lunch hour to run to the store for olives. I think I’ll leave the pasta white and call it eyeballs and brains. We had ghost pancakes for breakfast, so this will wrap up the day well!
