This post was brought to you by J Women’s Network and Genworth. All opinions are my own.
I have to admit, I’m not one to sell insurance, quote insurance and I’m the first to tell you it’s a waste of money ~ BUT~ we have to cover ourselves for our future, our kids future and we may not ever need it; However, that ONE time, the unforeseen time when you will need it though is when you will be thankful that you have invested that money.
You may not ever need any of the insurance you have, but to keep your family protected and knowing that if something should happen they are taken care of.
Did you know that most car accidents happen within a mile of your home, many are fatal and then what? How will your family cover any expenses for funeral expenses, paying the regular household bills with you gone? That little peace of mind knowing that if something should happen, the family is taken care of and doesn’t have to suffer while coping with the loss of a loved one, is priceless.
On my way to work the other day I started to think, I spend a good hour commute each way to the office in the morning and back in the evening, traffic is nerve wreaking to say the least; things can happen in the blink of an eye and you may not make it home that day. I take every day as it was my last and enjoy my family as much as I can but knowing that they wouldn’t lose the house in case something would happen to me keeps me from worrying “What if…”. Did you know that Life Insurance really isn’t that expensive at all? Get your Quote today and see how little it will be to keep your family protected for an unexpected loss or accident.
Another thing I always worry about and a lot of people don’t think to do, get your kids life insurance as well. Now you wonder and think… My kids are little, why would I need life insurance? Simple, accidents happen, I see it over and over and just in the last week I saw 5 accidents with children under the age of 15 that lost their life, whether it be riding a bike and car hitting them, water sport accidents or children crossing a walkway home from school, anything can happen and then what? All three of my kids have a small Life Insurance Policy and the sooner you start the cheaper the policy premium is; only a few bucks to keep your peace of mind.
I know finances still have to be in place to cover any expense for your child and Life Insurance would take that worry away, knowing that in any unforeseen event I would have the funds to burry my child (God forbid, It’s not something anyone EVER should have to do, and I’m really up sad that I’m even spelling it out that way, BUT… let’s be honest, don’t close your eyes and ears, things do happen!!) is a blessing in that time of need.
So spend a few minutes today and look at your family, look what would happen if you wouldn’t be there to care for them, pay the bills or drive them to sport events; ask yourself…. Who will and how will my kids grow up and then check out this Genworth article that will recommend 3 insurance policies that everyone should have.
Hoping that you will never need it or experience a sudden loss in your family, but have peace of mind that your family is covered, Mom’s know best…. we love our family and we know it’s a MUST have not a NEED ……. Blessings to all and I would love to hear your comments about what you think about Life Insurance and how you feel about keeping your family protected.

You bring up some great points.. and it’s interesting timing for me. I was just dropping off my parents at the airport this morning and was really appreciative that I don’t have to sit in traffic for a 9 to 5 any more. I really don’t miss it! It is a crazy busy world out there!

Melanie, I agree. No one plans for these tragedies. This has affected me personally. My dad was left with me, 3-years-old, at the time, when my mother was tragically killed in a gas explosion in a shop my parents owned. I’m sure my father wasn’t remotely thinking about life insurance at that young age, but honestly, all parents with children should get life insurance in the event something happens. My father and wonderful stepmom have everything set for me when they pass away and it truly does take a lot of stress off me. I will be emotional and grieving-finances is the last thing anyone wants to worry about. I have life insurance, my husband does, and my 3 kids. It’s just one of those things no one wants to think about (like a Will) but if you truly care about your family-it needs to be done. Good job posting this!

WOW Andrea, your comment gave me chills .. Hugs and blessings to you and your family and hope you will NEVER have to use the insurance, but at least you know it would be there… if needed… God Bless…

Oh no, I’m so sorry! We have insurance and we reevaluate the amount every year and then don’t think about it anymore. It’s not fun to think about but much worse if you didn’t think about it and end up needing it.

Totally agree with you Ashley; we do the same and never think about it.. but soo glad IF we ever need it, it would be there…

Melanie, if you saw five fatal accidents last week I am thinking you need to move to a safer area! But, I agree, life insurance is so important. We have had it for years because I am afraid something might happen and we would not have the money needed to cover the expenses.
Melanie Roberts says
It has been a rough few weeks that’s for sure… 🙁 wish we could move, but ya know things happen anywhere… just make sure your family is safe and protected and keep praying for the best 🙂

This is really something to think about! We don’t have kids, so I think we “think” life insurance is not necessary… but, we are so wrong! We are a dual income household and neither of us could pay our bills alone. Definitely something we need to get!!!

It is always best to be prepared with life insurance as you state in your post. It is so hard to loose someone and have financial obligations that can not be met. Makes it even worse. Great points.

Life is so important and unfortunately, many of us learn that the hard way. My hubby’s 3 year old daughter passed away a year before we got married… it took us years to pay off the costs. Together we have 6 kids and now they all have life insurance.

I don’t think insurance is a waste of money AT ALL! There are some things you certainly need like getting rid of comprehensive if your car is paid off and using just term insurance for your life insurance but yes – insurance is important. We have a 20 year term insurance policy that will protect our family while we are raising our kids. We don’t really need coverage after that point so it works for us and it inexpensive.

I was just telling my nephew, who is a new driver, about that statistic. Even if he’s just running up to the store down the street, he needs to be sure and wear a seat belt. Life insurance is a must. I carry enough to provide for my son an mom should something happen to me.

Love what you had to say about this and it is so important. Things do happen unexpectedly and although we tend to think, it won’t happen to me, I know in my life, many things have. Most of my family passed unexpectedly and at young ages. Glad you wrote about this.

We have life insurance in place for both us, plus insurance on car and home that is regularly updated. But you are right, many are unprotected and with the bad economy and people needing to save, insurance is often one of the first things to go.

I want to get life insurance to give my kids some security if I should pass but my husband thinks I am morbid for “thinking the worse can happen” I never thought about getting ins. on my kids though.. but if he thinks I am morbid now it would be worse if he thought I wanted life ins. on them too…
