It’s getting cold outside and often that also means that the kids will end up with a cold or even the dreaded flu. Who has time for that, especially during the busy holiday season. You have a lot of things to get done and not enough time as it is. Just to let you know that compensation was provided by Amwell via MomTrends. Imagine spending a few hours at Urgent Care with your sick little one and lots of other sick patients as well?
The thought just makes me cinch. When I grew up in Germany our primary care dr. always did house calls. whether we called him at 2 am or at 6am on a Sunday morning, no matter the day nor time he quickly arrived and made all of us feel better. No waiting at the office till Monday, we all know everyone gets sick over the weekend and no Dr. available.
For years I’ve told my husband that I really miss my Dr. from Germany and so wish there was a service like that here. Our insurance isn’t the best, it’s a high deductible insurance from my husband’s employer, but till we meet our very high deductible we have to cover 100% of any medical care, most of the time in our case our Primary Care provider charges $150 and up per visit. Ouch!
Let me tell you how excited I was when I heard of Amwell over the summer, I loved the idea and I loved the service but what totally has my family convinced was my husband. He called me at the office a few weeks ago and said “I need to see a Dr., this isn’t getting any better”. Threaded words for me, I couldn’t justify another $150 plus medications, but I know he was sick and I couldn’t play with his health either. I remembered Amwell and mentioned to him that I had a free coupon code “BEWELL16” that we could call the Dr. later that evening from the comfort of our home. I had not heard back from my husband after that statement. I knew he was skeptical and thought he will be ok just keep taking over the counter meds.
Once I got home that evening my husband greeted me at the door with my laptop and asked for me to pull up Amwell. So we did, he was a little worried and asked me to stay in the room. A grown men, wanted his wife to stay in the room, lol. I agreed and we picked a provider and got him all set up. The call went very well, he was diagnosed with Bronchitis and the Dr. called his medication to our pharmacy of choice; within an hour he picked up his medication and was on his way to feeling better! He loved it! He was impressed and couldn’t stop telling people about Amwell.
I have to admit, I tell every client I meet at the office since most of my clients are self-employed meaning their insurance is probably as bad as mine but with a copay of only $49 for any Amwell visit even if you insurance doesn’t cover, it;s an AWESOME opportunity and deal. One client while in our meeting said “You had me at $49, I won’t even bother claiming that on my insurance, I love it and he loaded the App for Amwell in my office. I might of had a smile on my face.
Another success story a few days ago, my oldest son works at the hospital and is doomed to catch whatever goes around, I offered him to set him up with Amwell and he again just like my husband was a little reluctant. His insurance is amazing and he usually gets free medical care if he goes to the hospital, but he was too sick and didn’t care to drive all the way to the hospital and sit and wait for hours, his insurance covered most of the Amwell visit and he ended up with a $25co-pay. Not bad at all!! He had the threaded flu and was given medication that the Dr. called to our nearest 24h pharmacy and we got it quickly. The Dr. even gave him a Dr. note for work so he would have an excused illness. What a service!
Let me tell you, we are probably two or three pages into me telling you how amazing Amwell is, I usually don’t tell you about a product if I don’t personally believe in it, but this one I can’t stop talking about because I LOVE it!!
