Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion XL on the Wii brings back some of our old cartoon favorites: Powerpuff Girls, Young Ben 10, Johnny Bravo, Dexter’s Laboratory and many more.   There are two main modes in Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion XL. The first is the story mode. This is playing the game with a character or characters through the story. The other is battle mode. This mode is like a fighting game where you battle with the different Cartoon Network characters.

The side scrolling 2D levels look okay in Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion XL. There are various creatures to fight off. Players also need to free Cartoon Network characters like Chowder by fighting them. There are twenty-six playable characters in Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion XL. There are also twenty-six battle arenas. The story mode is there to unlock characters, and earn enough currency to purchase others.

It was kind of neat to see the old characters again because my two boys were too young when they first came out on TV.  My eight-year, Aidan, really enjoyed battling with each characters and figuring out their special powers. I think he liked Dexter the best while Chase loved Johnny Bravo… Something to with those “locks.”

But both of my boys would agree, the story-line mode made Punch Time Explosion XL one of their favorites. I actually had to make them stop playing. Aidan kept on pleading, “one more minute Dad.”

I must admit when the boys went to bed, I grabbed the Wii remote and started playing. I had a lot of fun! My wife came into the family room, and with a bewildered look asked me what I was doing. I told her “I am Ben 10.”

The game was very enjoyable for the whole family. You are able to play up to 4 players in battle mode, hours of enjoyment and total Cartoon Network retro Ville.
