My family room hasn’t really had much use or style since we moved in 12 years ago. This room was always like a red headed step child; yet it was in the middle of the house. Last year I decided to turn this room into something we all could enjoy. We painted the walls, added window trim and crown molding and new flooring; then we put our old TV stand back in and the old couch… last fall I had enough of that old tinny entertainment corner stand and I wanted more storage space, so we decided let’s go to IKEA and see what we can find there. I love IKEA, that always makes me feel like home, yet they are from Sweden, but we had them all over Germany and they sell a lot of the same food that I’m used to.
We ended up with a new entertainment center that will now cover the entire wall, we have 3 windows in that room, one on each wall and wall 4 is a double door size wall opening to get to the rest of the house, so we have very little wall space. I took the entertainment center and closed one wall incl. window completely up.. Check it out, I love it…and the storage possibilities are endless.. we still have a ton of empty cubbies. Remember I’m in a fairly small house with a 2 Adults, a Tween, Teen a Toddler and 2 dogs, we need all the storage space we can get into this little house and I think we mastered quit well.
The price was fairly descent, too, the entire wall section was like $250.00 and to us, a well deserved investment. We keep all our furniture for a long time and I don’t buy furniture at an impulse shopping trip, because I plan carefully so we don’t have to change or try to sell them later on. I just don’t like to sell furniture’s.
So if you are in the market for some extra storage space in your house, check out IKEA and get some wonderful products at a descent prize that will make your house look like a million bucks.. I love my room and the entertainment center stands out and makes this a “family” room. For a few $$ we turned this room into something inviting and comforting to us, it doesn’t take a lot to change your room, but if you are not happy with your decor you are not happy in the room. Why waist precious space that you can utilize and even use for storage at the same time….
