So what are your thoughts on the show Extreme Couponing on TLC ?

April 6, 2011 By Melanie Roberts 4 Comments

Have you seen “Extreme couponing“? So, what are your thoughts?? Like it?? Dislike it?? This show wasn’t quiet as dramatic as the first one that aired a few month ago, however I still don’t like it. I just don’t get the point to buy 65 bottles of Mustard and clear the shelf, if you don’t even eat it. Sure it will never go bad, BUT 65???? And I’m a couponer and I love my stockpile, I’m very proud of my Stockpile, but I will only buy the things that I know my family will eat;

I would love to hear your thoughts on this….

I don’t do the extreme like these people have and I still save 75-90% of my groceries… would love to hear what your thoughts are…

So, I know aft watching the show, you are ready to start saving and I found some of the new HOT coupons while I watched the show  for you, that will get your new hobby started..BUT remember Please don’t clear the shelves and be considered to others.

    I have to agree….I do not understand WHY you need 300 paper towels… 65 bottles of mustard and 4 YEARS worth of TP? Seriously?!Really?

    On the Cellfire, I have seen that on several websites…Is that something for our area? I could not find a store I heard of.

      Shannon.. right now we don’t have Celfire.. I hope that we will get them soon, too… 🙂 will keep you posted… Honestly food does go bad.. cereal 100 boxes even if the kids eat one box a day, it still will be bad before you get to the last few.. I know 20 got bad in 6 month even with me looking at the expiration date closely… moderations is the key and you will still save a TON for your family 🙂

    I guess I don’t really like it because 1) it’s staged (like all tv) to make it more appealing to the viewers and 2) I think it makes couponers look bad.

    I just don’t understand why they would have a couponer order 100 coupons and then call the store to have them “set-up” the product, and call it reality. While I know some bloggers do place orders with stores, that is not common, and I think this is just over dramatized for tv. I also think it turns people off to couponing.

    I agree with you. I didn’t enjoy the waste that I saw there. There are so many that could use some of these products- all they have to do is take it one step further and share the products they get for free that they won’t use with those that are in need that will – food banks, etc. Why waste it until it will go bad sitting in their store rooms.

    I think that the stores should limit. Our stores limit to 3 similar coupons on a trip – boy, wouldn’t that trip up these people. LOL Anyway – no, I didn’t like it and I think overall, they do more harm than good. I think these shows would discourage some – wondering what they are doing wrong.

    One more thought – while I always love when a product is free, remember it really wasn’t free to manufacture – so let’s talk about those 65 mustards for example. While they aren’t being used, the cost of their manufacturing was not washed away. Their cost is absorbed into the price that everyone else pays! Extreme couponing? How about extreme price increases to compensate for idiots like these.
