Our favorite way to drink Classic Coca Cola

April 13, 2011 By Melanie Roberts 2 Comments

Being from Germany means we grew up with a lot of different things and products; do I miss them now here in the US? Of course I do. I always try to re-make a recipe or a flavor that I know from home, sometimes it works and sometimes well, let’s just leave it at that. One of the things I miss a lot from home is Mezzo Mix… you are probly saying… What? Is it a cat? A Plane ?? a Bird?? What in the world is Mezzo Mix…. It’s a drink… It’s a wonderful Cola & Orange drink. My kids had never heard of Mezzo Mix until a few years ago, when I craved my all to familiar drink. When I’m homesick, I always want something from home.

I didn’t quit remember how to make Mezzo Mix, since at home Coca Cola actually sells it pre-made in bottles and cans and if you  ever visit  Epcot in Florida, they have a Taste Tester station with Mezzo Mix, you have to check it out.. BUT until I can have the original Mezzo Mix again, I came up with a cool and easy mix that tastes almost, if not the same, as the original; it’s simple all you need is a can ( or a bottle..lol) of Classic Coca Cola and the cheapest Orange Flavored Soda drink you can find. I always buy the Publix Orange Soda drink. The reason I say the cheapest orange Soda, I’ve tried all the other flavors and the cheapest one always ended up with the best flavor.

Okay now you have your Classic Coca Cola and your Orange flavored Soda; pour about ¾ of a cup of Classic Coca Cola into your cup and about ¼ of Orange Soda… swirl a little and Voila.. you have Mezzo Mix… Taste it.. go ahead.. isn’t it AMAZING??? It’s totally different than anything you can buy here in the US…You can also play with the flavor, if you like more orangy taste, add more orange, if you like a lighter orange flavor, add more coke…

Once my kids figured out that I can reproduce Mezzo Mix here in the US, they will not drink anything else. It’s just a different taste and flavor… I would love for you to try it out and let me know how and your family like it…. I love to share with my readers some of my German tradition and products; who would have known that it is so easy to reproduce a product, that is famous and a BIG hit in another country, as long as you have Coca Cola Classic around you… Now it really has to be Coca Cola Classic, I tried it with the “Cheap” knockoff stuff and it doesn’t taste the same.. maybe I’m just picky… J

Enjoy…
