10 things to make Mom’s Life Easier….

June 22, 2011 By Melanie Roberts 2 Comments

Being a Mom of 3, and a full time outside of the home working mom, things sure get hectic around here. I love to find ways to make it easier and to get the family life run as smooth as I can.

I wanted to share some of our ideas with you and hope they will help you along the way as well.

  1.  Make lunches ahead for the little ones; I like to prepare all the PB& J Sandwiches on Sunday night, put each in  a freezer baggie and toss them all into the Freezer; each morning the kids pull one out for their lunchbox…. voila; Lunch is served and you won’t have to spend 15 min of your already busy morning to prepare lunches.
  2. Sort the laundry while you take off the cloth; Once you change your cloth at night put them in different baskets, one for white, one for dark, one for underwear etc.. you know what would work best for your family; once laundry day rolls around all you have to do is take the basket toss in the washer and start washing.. eliminates a good 20 minutes in our house and kids complaining about sorting their laundry.
  3. Clip coupons, they aren’t just a money saver; if you sort each coupon by the product category, like Frozen food, Toiletries, baby items they are also a time saver and making it easier saving money while out and about.
  4. Use the Crockpot!!!! That is a HUGE time saver in our house as well as money savings. We won’t eat dinner out, yet we have a home cooked meal and no one slaved over the hot stove all day!!! We love our Crockpot; check out our Crockpot Section.
  5. Employee the kids… Don’t try to clean, cook, organize and work all on your own; have the kids help you. Mine have helped clean or cook since they were old enough to walk, they love it and now it’s almost like second nature when I ask them to vacuum they know how and what I want done, taking some task off my to do list…Smile
  6. Have a Smart Phone.. that’s a HUGE time saver; you can check e-mails, updates anything you need while on the go; you can stay in touch with all the kids at a moments notice change plans if need too.. BEST THING EVER!!!
  7. Buy School products, or anything for that matter while on clearance, that will save you a bundle and you are already ready to go for next year, I do that with Christmas, School supply’s etc. If you know it will come around like a holiday or an occasion, buy the items on clearance store them and you don’t have to go on that last minute Wal-Mart run 10 minutes before school starts cause you didn’t get the school list till an hour before the First day of School… just open your closet and go shopping there Smile
  8. Get a DVR….. everyone nowadays is super busy, I can’t imagine life without a DVR; there are so many shows, but I can’t make a specific time during the day to sit and watch just THAT show… perfect solution for a busy mom on the go, tape it and watch it on YOUUR TIME!!!
  9. Organize your Kitchen… If you know where everything is and put each item back in it’s place after you used it, like Small appliances, cutting boards etc.; it will eliminate the search when you are already franticly trying to cook dinner.. ( you should have actually taken my advise about the crockpot above… dinner would be done..lol).
  10. Remember… Don’t do it ALL in one day… there is ALWAYS tomorrow… enjoy your family, take some time off and don’t worry about anything but YOU!!! No chores are going to run away for you, trust me.. they will be there the next day Smile

Now, I hope you were able to take some ideas and tips away from this post. Life is in the fast lane and I try my best to keep it in slow motion sometimes, but doesn’t always work… would love to hear any time or money savings tips that you have and use, that work well for you and your family….. Smile

I like the tip to not do it all in one day. Sometimes, we get so caught up in the things that need to get done and forget about the fun we need to have with the loved ones in our lives.
