You know, this Crazy Mom is always on the go, between my day job, soccer, kids activities, School, events, Birthdays, we are always on the road. I think it’s just part of our life’s now;
Growing up I don’t ever remember my mom handling or juggling as many things as I have to do nowadays; and then they say technology will make our life easier. I don’t know about you, easier, yes.. BUT also adds a lot more stress and chores that we pack into our day. So I decided to come up with a few ideas to make life easier on the go, things that I do and that work for us.
-
Smart Phones are a MUST nowadays; You can do just about anything while on the go. Check your e-mails, schedule appoints even set the timer for your Crockpot, this is a HUGE life saver that I can’t live without anymore.
-
My Crockpot is most defiantly a big thing to keep my family fed and lets me put a healthy, yummy home cooked meal on the table, even after a busy day at the office, HUGE time safer as well.
-
Prepare your sandwiches on Sundays, take 1,2 or even 3 loafs of bread, make a PB&J Sandwich out of each one, tuck each sandwich into a freezer bag and toss into the freezer, when it’s time to pack school lunch grab one and out the door you go.
-
Use timers!! If you have a coffee machine with an automatic timer, use it, prepare it the night before and you will have coffee when you are waking up, saving time right then and there.
-
While cooking dinner, make a double batch, freeze one for another day. Two for one and you only spend one time in the kitchen; but you have a yummy dinner for Soccer night.
-
Have the kids pull out their cloth the night before, I even do that for my office cloth, that eliminates the last minute run around looking for that T-shirt or tennis Shoes, saves you a lot of time.
-
Calendar – believe it or not whether it be on my smart phone or on my desk, a calendar is a MUST, keep everyone scheduled with different colors will be a HUGE life saver and keeps everyone organized.
-
Keep baby wipes in the car, even for a Tween and yes, maybe a Teen. You never know when you will stop for Ice Cream or find some kind of cool animal on the side of the street. You can even use it to wipe up the coffee spill, that I know you have just a bout every morning.. I know I do

-
Spend 10-15 min at night, picking up things from the day to day mess, it will add up and will keep your house in order. It’s not a lot of time, but it will be wonderful knowing you don’t have to do it the next day
. -
Finally, RELAX… breath in and out.. take a moment to enjoy your Cup of Coffee or tea and then start rushing around…..
Boy, I could go on and on.. I sure hope these tips come in handy, do you have a Life saving tip? I sooo would love to hear it….

having the kids pick their clothes the night before is a real time saver! I didn’t know you could freeze the sandwich. I will try that! Thank you for the tips!

Our lives are much more hectic than our mother’s were. I remember our summers being pretty simple and still fun. We didn’t see our moms all day until dinner. Using the crock pot and a calendar are huge time savers.

Hi Vickie;
I’m so glad that I’m not the only one thinking that our Mother’s had an easier life, sure for their area it still was busy, but check us out, e juggle jobs, kids, house, dinner, games anything you throw at us.. can’t imagine in 20 years how my Kid’s handle things…

I love your list! I’m all for making my life easier, especially with baby #3 due any day now. I especially love the PB&J sandwich idea. I spend a LOT of time making PB&J because that’s what my kids prefer over anything. It would be nice to not make it every single day! I’m proud of myself- I have 1 frozen meal made, 1 big batch of spaghetti sauce frozen, and a dozen chocolate banana muffins frozen. What do you do about chores? I’ve been searching for age appropriate chores and a chore system for our 5 and 3 year old. They already do several chores, but I think the visual would be helpful, especially for things like cleaning up belongings and brushing teeth- an ongoing battle.

Congrats on baby# 3.. the chores we usually do with the toddler is, she needs to put her cloth up and we also have different baskets so she can sort her laundry * and I don’t have to do it…lol*.. she loves it and that keeps her busy, With the young ones like yours I mainly would focus on every day stuff picking up their toys after they are done… once they get older I would start “chores” chores…
