How do you trick your kids into eating more veggies? My Teen used to love veggies now all he eats is meat, no dairy or any kind of “grown” stuff at all, the Tween will only eat dairy and pasta and no meat and the Toddler, well she is in her PB&J world at the moment. I still try to incorporate a few veggies here and there and the kids most of the time don’t even know it and love it…..So, I wanted to share some of my Tips with you guys… I would love to hear some of your ideas as well…
-
I let each of the kids pick a vegetable that they want or going to try… that makes it a lot more fun if they are involved in the dinner process.
-
I sneak veggies into their every day meals, like pureed squash into Spaghetti Sauce or Pureed carrots into Mashed Potato’s…. they never know and love it.. yet I know they are getting an extra serving of veggies.
-
I sneak veggies into smoothies… yup.. works well; I love to add spinach to a fruit Smoothie.. makes it kind of fun to drink and so far the kids loved it. I do have to admit, at first when I added spinach I was a bit hesitant, but now I even LOVE it.
-
We grow our own veggies, the kids love to help and most of the time they will eat what they have grown, they are so proud and can’t wait to try the Tomato or cucumber from the garden.
-
We add veggies to a lot of the every day dishes like Pizza or Mac’ n Cheese… simple yet the kids love it.
-
Add Cheese Sauce; My Tween and Toddler will eat ANYTHING if I add a Cheese Sauce, add Fresh Broccoli and you have your Veggie… Now my Teen will eat it with A1 Sauce…whatever floats your boat, but they will eat it…
. -
My Kids also love to dip stuff, so we use carrots and their choice of dip, is a fun and simple snack that gets some extra vitamins into the little ones and they don’t even know it
. -
The Toddler is in shape mode, we cut just abut anything into fun shapes and letters and she will just about anything that way… make veggies fun to eat and the little ones won’t even think twice and gobble them all up.
-
Have the kids help you shop for dinner and let them choose which veggie they want; we do that sometimes each kid gets to pick a veggie of the night… everyone has to try it and tells us their likes and dislikes… great dinner conversation as well.
-
Don’t force your little one to eat ALL the veggies, offer a few different ones and ask them to at least add one to their plate…
Now it’s your turn.. how do you get your little ones to eat their veggies? Do you have any crazy stories… I’m always looking for some more tips and tricks to give the little ones their veggies
