Crockpot Thursday Chocolate Pudding Cake

September 15, 2011 By Melanie Roberts 21 Comments

Yup, you’ve read that right… we are making dessert in the Crockpot today. I wanted something different and I know you can use the crockpot for lots of different things. When I looked through the Quick & Easy Autumn Cookbook from Gooseberry Patch, I found a bunch of yummy sweets; I knew I just had to try them.

So grab the few ingredients, toss them together and walk away… after 5 hours you will have yummy.. ohh so goodness, gooey.. delicious.. Chocolate Pudding Cake!

This is what you will need:120_4648

1- 8 1/2 oz. pkg. chocolate cake mix
3.9 oz instant chocolate pudding mix
1 pt. sour cream
4 eggs, beaten
3/4 c. oil
1 c. water
6 oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
optional: Vanilla Ice Cream

This is how to make this delicious yummy, oh so fattening …did I say Yummy cake?
Mix all ingredients in a mixing bowl; spray the inside of your slow cooker with a vegetable oil; toss in your mixed batter and Cover; cook on low setting for 5 to 7 hours ( or on high for like 3 hrs). DO NOT stir while cooking! When done, dessert should be cake like with some chocolate “lava” in the center. Serve warm, over ice cream if desired. Makes 6 to 8 servings

ENJOY….. this is soo smooth and silky… just different and soo easy to make. Plus you don’t have to heat up the kitchen and you can bake a wonderful dessert while out and about taking the kids to school and running errands.

Very unique! We travel a lot and I’ve been digging around for more crockpot recipes, especially dessert ones since I cant bake on the road – might just have to give this one a shot.

Looks delicious! What size crockpot did you use or doesn’t it matter? My ‘mom’ group has a crockpot sampler day coming up and I think this is what I’ll be bringing!
