Make Halloween a thriller with this double dvd pack that features one of the best animated characters you could use for a Halloween movie, Shrek. In Scared Shrekless, we finally get to see Shrek with his family and friends celebrating an ogre’s favorite holiday. After a bit of fun time with his family, Shrek takes Donkey and a couple other favorites such as Puss and Gingy to the rundown and now "haunted" old home of Lord Farquaad.
There is a highly comical haunted remix of the welcome to Duloc song with animatronic puppets as they entering the rundown city. Each of the characters are taking turns telling horror stories trying to scare of the others. Each story has the familiar little jokes and gags that have become pretty common with this series of films. My kids and I did enjoy a few good laughs but there wasn’t a whole lot that made me think it was any different than the other Shrek movies. The disk also included a fun little bonus of a Thriller music video remake starring none other than Shrek, himself.
The real surprise of this Halloween Party DVD Pack though, was the Monsters vs. Aliens short called Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space. It brings back the terrific cast of the first movie getting ready to celebrate, you guessed it, Halloween. Just when they are getting all excited about what is going to be one of their first nights off in a good while, they are called away to an emergency. And where by chance does this event take place? Where else other than Modesto! Some great tidbits of comedy bring attention to the oddity of what is referred to as an alien invasion taking place in the same small town as last time.
This series has not been overdone (yet) so the jokes and hijinks definitely feel much more fresh than the Shrek title. The Crew gets to wander around as if they are normal and even get made fun of for there "costumes". It has some great slapstick style humor with some great one liners (most of them coming from B.O.B.) that are definitely entertaining for all ages. This disk also includes some really great bonus features including a monster Karaoke party and a World of DreamWorks documentary. While it is definitely the Shrek name that sells this disk at first, it is the Monsters vs. Aliens disk that really makes this a great Halloween buy.
To accentuate our Halloween movie experience we were sent a party pack along with our dvds. This party pack included a Shrek trick or treat pail, Shrek hands, Shrek ears, microwave popcorn, Swamp Slugs (aka gummy worms), Donkey Droppings (aka jelly beans), and Ogre Snot (aka green licorice). You could very easily replicate these treats for your own scary Shrek viewing party. Watch the trailer below…have a safe and Happy Halloween!
You can purchase this DVD Party Pack on Amazon.com for a great price of $15.49 or check your local stores.

My grandson hasn’t seen Shrek yet, he’s still kind of young, but once he’s older, he will LOVE it!
