I know I know.. this isn’t really a Brunch Item, BUT I wanted to make something for Halloween and with Apples. When I was a little girl I loved those Candy apples, you could only buy them at the Fair when they came to town, 2 times a year. I remember eating a little of the apple at a time and putting it back in the fridge.. I must have done that for days.. ( I’m sure I did it for one day.. never remember them being brown.. lol)… ohh it was such a special treat. Since I have been in the US I haven’t found MY Candy apples at all. They just never taste the same. So I came up with a recipe and made that and ohh sooo simple for a Halloween Party or just a fun family day….
You Need:
1 1/2 cup of Sugar
2/3 cup of water
6-8 Apples
6-8 wooden Sticks
Food Coloring ( we usually use Red but you can use other colors..)
Sugar to sprinkle on the finished Apple
Bowl of COLD water
HOW to make it:
Take the water and the Sugar and bring to a boil like syrup, if you have a candy thermamoter check and by 300F add the Food Coloring. Your Candy Syrup is done.
Add the sticks to the Apples and dip the apples into the Syrup ( Be careful it’s HOT, don’t let the kids touch the syrup).
After you put the Apples into the syrup, immediately dunk them into the Cold water bowl, that will cool the apples and makes the Syrup turn into candy.
Take a baking sheet, sprinkle some sugar on and add the “wet” apples to try. Let cool and your Candy Apples are oohhh soooo yummmyyy done…
Last step Enjoy and don’t forget to brush your teeth and let the kids run in the yard after this sugar rush ….

Wow! I was afraid to even attempt these. I figured they would be too hard. I was going to make Caramel Apples but my kids said no so they got no apples. Will be saving this for next year. Thanks
