I love to make special treats for my family and I hardly ever have time to create some of my famous German coffee cakes. So the other day I decided to make a quick recipe that I saw online over and over, added a little of my own spin and served it as a tea cake to my family.
The smell that went through the house was amazing, even my husband kept saying “Wow, whatever you made there smells delicious” and the kids couldn’t wait to give it a try. It was super simple and took about 20-30 minutes start to finish…![]()
This is what you need:
- 2 packages Crescent Rolls
- 1 block cream cheese
- 1/2 C sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 t vanilla
- 1/2 t lemon juice
- dash salt
- 1-2 spoonful of Raspberry Jam
- 1 T melted butter
- Pre heat oven at 350F
This is how to make it:
Mix all the ingredients, except butter, in a bowl till the cream cheese and the jam/jelly are nicely melted and a cream cheese mixture.
Take your Crescent rolls out of the fridge (keep them in the fridge as long as possible, they are easier to work with if cold), unroll the triangles and create a rectangle; I used wax paper you can use aluminum foil sprayed with a little spray oil to keep it from sticking.
Arrange each triangle on your wax paper and pinch together the edges to form one single rectangle out of the crescent rolls.
Spread your cream cheese mixture onto your crescent rolls and once done, I would say put it back in the fridge if the crescent dough got too warm; if you think it’s okay just take the wax paper (or aluminum foil) and roll it up… keep on rolling till it’s all done…
Before I put mine into the oven, I brushed melted butter over the top; some people like to add cinnamon and sugar, but I knew mine would already be sweet, so I skipped that part. In the oven it went; 350F for 20 minutes …..
Yum… doesn’t this look delicious? It sure smelled delicious and we LOVED it. It was perfect for an afternoon tea or would be a great breakfast item as well. I love raspberries, that’s why I used the jam, but you certainly could use your favorite jam or even fresh fruit; just mesh up your strawberries or raspberries and mix them under the cream cheese mixture… YUMMY; you could also make a little glaze for the top. I would use a little powder sugar mixed with a few drops of lemon juice and maybe a small amount of the jelly or fruit that is used inside. Drizzle over the top and let cool…. ENJOY!!

What a lucky family to have someone do all these great things for them and prepare such great meals and desserts. Now that my kids are with me, I am attempting to make meals but nothing fancy like this, least not yet.
