Viva Italia with a #Simple Margarita Pizza and Tiramisu Dinner and #Dessert in no time #Recipe #GourmetGetaway

September 22, 2013 By Melanie Roberts 56 Comments

Viva Italia its dinner the #Simple way #Recipe

I love to create different theme nights in our home; most of the time we cook German dinners but one of our all time favorite dish for the entire family is real Italian Pizza. I have to be honest, Pizza is my all time favorite food, no matter where we go, no matter what kind, I will always grab a Pizza.

So it was a no brainer when I went to World Market the other day and saw that they had a bunch of Italian products on sale and around the store that I would have an Italian night for the family. Of course, I like things simple and quick, so check out how I was able to create a fun dinner including dessert in about 30 minutes or so and everyone got what they wanted. You could even have the kids help you, was that easy.

Simple pizza ~ with a few shortcuts

Viva Italia with a #Simple Margarita Pizza and Tiramisu Dinner and #Dessert in no time #Recipe ##GourmetGetaway

You need for the Margarita Pizza:

  • Pastorelli Pizza Crust
  • Pomi Chopped Tomatoes
  • Italian Seasoning
  • fresh tomatoes
  • fresh basil
  • garlic
  • fresh mozzarella ~ I buy mine at Sam’s they sell a twin pack for $7.50ish and at the grocery store they sell the same brand and same cheese single pack for $8 each!

This is how to make the Margarita Italy’s favorite Pizza

Viva Italia with a #Simple Margarita Pizza and Tiramisu Dinner and #Dessert in no time #Recipe ##GourmetGetaway

  1. Take Pomi Tomatoes and put in your blender, add Italian Seasoning mix, garlic and fresh basil; blend ~ puree all up; this is your homemade Pizza sauce with some help.
  2. Spread Pizza Sauce on your thin crust Pizza dough; top with Tomatoes, basil and fresh Mozzarella ~ Done Voila.. That Simple
  3. Pre-heat oven to 400F ~ per package instructions and bake 8-10 minutes!
  4. My kids wanted to add different things though their Pizza so we made one with roast beef and cheddar cheese; one we used Italian sausage that we picked up at world Market and one we made cheese only; the possibilities are endless and whatever suites your family need will work just fine ~ make it your own

Viva Italia with a #Simple Margarita Pizza and Tiramisu Dinner and #Dessert in no time #Recipe ##GourmetGetaway

We served our Pizza with a wonderful wine from World Market for hubby and I, Tavernello will compliment the Pizza dinner just perfectly and for the kids I served up a World market Italian Soda; the kids loved all the different flavors from Italy and I loved that it was all authentic Italian food for less than a Pizza delivery.

Viva Italia with a #Simple Margarita Pizza and Tiramisu Dinner and #Dessert in no time #Recipe ##GourmetGetaway

We couldn’t round out the night any better than with the most famous Italian dessert ~ Tiramisu. We all know Tiramisu takes forever to make and who has time for that, right? I want it now and I want it simple; so I came up with a simple way to make Tiramisu single serve (you could make a baking dish full as well) in no time at all while the Pizza’s are baking in the oven.

Make a Simple Single Serve Tiramisu

Viva Italia with a #Simple Margarita Pizza and Tiramisu Dinner and #Dessert in no time #Recipe ##GourmetGetaway

  • Lady Fingers ~ cut in pieces
  • Italian Chocolate ~ chopped
  • 1 cup LavAzza Espresso ~ chilled
  • 1 cup heavy cream ~ whipped
  • 8 oz Mascarpone cheese
  • 2 Tbs sugar
  • splash of vanilla extract

Perfect dessert Simple Tiramisu #recipe copy

  1. Mix your whip cream, sugar, vanilla extract and mascarpone in a bowl; set aside
  2. Cut your lady fingers and place a nice layer on the bottom of your bowl/glass
  3. pour chilled espresso over your Lady Finger layer
  4. put a layer of Whip cream / mascarpone filling on top
  5. add another layer of lady fingers
  6. another sip of espresso
  7. another layer of cream filling
  8. repeat till your glass/bowl is full
  9. sprinkle chopped chocolate on top
  10. ~SERVE Chilled ~

Viva Italia with a #Simple Margarita Pizza and Tiramisu Dinner and #Dessert in no time #Recipe ##GourmetGetaway

Since the kids weren’t big on coffee I left the coffee out for them and just gave them the lady fingers to dip into the Mascarpone/cream filling and they loved it. For hubby and me to round out the night I served our Tiramisu with a beautiful red Lambrusco Dolce, matched dessert beautifully and gave us a special Italian flair right here in Florida.

See, Tiramisu doesn’t have to be difficult, take hours to make or be expensive; this simple Tiramisu was worth every bit and the flavor was amazing; my family raved all night long and asked to make it again soon. I have to admit, I was hooked on the cream filling, too.

I know your mouth is watering right now from our Simple Italian dinner night; well I have news for you. World Market has teamed up with the TV show My Family Recipe Rocks on the Live Well Network and hosted by Joey Fatone. My Family Recipe Rocks features amazing hometown cooks across America! Joey Fatone and his crew are cooking up old family recipes, new homegrown dishes and meeting the people behind this great food in their own kitchens. I just love that show and I was super excited to hear about the team up. Not only did they team up, nope they are offering an amazing, super mega cool Sweepstake that you don’t want to miss.
