Spooky creepy and fun Halloween Books to read

Spooky creepy and fun Halloween Books to read

Do you have a bookworm like my Teen that reads everything that comes across their desk? I love to surprise my kids with books that fit the season and this year I found a few super cool Halloween books that have kept my teen busy for a few weeks. The fun thing the books are both educational and a fun read keeping him entertained for hours.

The First book he read was Desmond Pucket Makes Monster Magic (Amp! Comics for Kids). The book is a fun story that most kids could relate to.

Someday Desmond will be famous for his special effects wizardry, but for now he’s just trying to make it through sixth grade at Cloverfield Memorial Junior High, which means he needs to stay one step ahead of the school’s disciplinary officer, Mr. Needles. The only problem is Desmond just can’t stop pulling pranks–like the time he attached a shrieking rubber goblin to the toilet seat in the teachers’ bathroom. Mrs. Rubin screamed so loudly her wig flew off! Or the time he put giant motorized worms into the mashed potatoes in the cafeteria. Or the time Desmond and his best friend, Ricky, arranged for a three-headed ghost to crash his sister’s slumber party. Rachel still hasn’t forgiven him. And now Desmond has to stay prank-free for the rest of the year, or he won’t be able to go on the class trip to Crab Shell Pier, home of the Mountain Full of Monsters ride! It’s going to be tough, but Desmond has to try. This book includes a section of "Desmond’s Notes": instructions for making monster magic (think scary noises, or fake blood) at home!

The book is geared towards grades 4-6 but anyone that loves the “The Diary of a Wimpy Kid books” or “big Nate” will also love the Desmond Pucket books; my teen is in 8th grade and he loved the quick read and took the book on the bus to keep him busy.

The second book I thought would work well for a fun creepy Halloween read was That’s Creepy: Spine-Tingling Facts That Will Test Your Creep-out Factor . This book is from  National Geographic Kids and has a lot of creepy facts included and is jam packed full of facts. The book is all color and glossy pages, 171 to be exact and will give your 3rd – 7th grader some shivers, quivers and some monstrous laughs ~ Your Teen is advise to read at his own risk!

In a world where werewolves rule and vampires are just the boy or girl next door, kids love anything that will scare the pants off them. But how do you separate fact from fiction? Do haunted houses, spooky ghosts, and UFOs have a place in history, or is it all just a bunch of hooey? Crawling with spine-tingly facts, eerie anecdotes, and fun information, this book is all about everything creepy, kooky, mysterious, and spooky. It’s a perfect book for the bathroom library or to read by flashlight under the covers. Just don’t tell kids how much real science and history they’re actually learning!

My Teen loved the Creepy book that is written by Crispin Boyer and has lots of awesome facts that even an 8th or 12th grader enjoyed looking through. I had a blast learning all about the vampires and how to keep them away, you just never know when you may need that info ~ whaaaahaaaahaaaa

Books are so good to read to kids and have them read. I take my son to the library to get books, and he would love to read these. I will have to check out the Spooky and Creepy Books.
