Make your own Dryer Sheets for pennies #BudgetFriendly and #DIY simple

Make your own Dryer Sheets for pennies #BudgedFriendly and #DIY simple
A few years ago, I got this super deal on Fabric Softener. I think I bought like 10 bottles and loved that they were almost free with my coupons. Well, now years later I still have most of the Fabric Softeners, because we hardly ever use it in the machine. My husband likes it better if we use dryer sheets. So the bottles sat there forever and ever and ever!

I think a deal isn’t a deal unless you use it, free or not, doesn’t matter. So a few weeks ago I cleaned the laundry room and I saw all those bottles sitting there, brand new and just waiting to be used. I decided to make Fabric Sheets for the dryer out of them and to my surprise, my hubby and the kids loved the end results. I was happy, now I can use my bottles of Fabric Softener.

This is very budget friendly and will last you for a very long time. You only need a few items and most if you are a couponer, can be found fairly cheap or free. If you aren’t a couponer, there is still a deal. head to your local Dollar Store and you should end up with super cheap items as well.

This is what you need for your very own dryer “sheets”

  • 1 bottle Fabric Softener
  • 1 package of sponges
  • 1 bowl with a lid
  • water

This is how to make your own Dryer “sheets”

  1. Put 1/2 fabric Softener and 1/2 water in a bowl with a lid. I used 2 cups Fabric Softener and 2 cups water.
  2. Cut your sponges into smaller pieces, I cut each of mine in half.
  3. Place the sponges into your fabric Softener/ Water mix and close the lid!

That’s as simple as it gets. Now every time you have a load in the dryer, get one sponge, squeeze the liquid out and toss into the dryer with your wet clothes. After the load is done, place the sponge back into the Softener liquid and they will be ready to be used next time. Over and over again!

Simple as that! One patch lasted me so far ahmm… 3 months and we are nowhere near done with it. So I would say one bottle will last you probably “forever”… Lol. I did notice when I pulled my “old” fabric Softener that it changed texture and was more lumpy, nothing to worry about, it still will work fine. Now all your clothes will come out AHHH soo soft and smelling amazing!

What a creative idea. I’m going to try this. I always forget to use my dryer sheets when I’m in a hurry, keeping these in the dryer would work wonders.

What a great idea to make your own. I love that you used sponges so they can be re-used rather than thrown out every time.

what a brilliant idea! Do the sponges get too hot and it there too much liquid in the sponges that leaves fabric softener on the clothes?

What a smart idea! I usually don’t like the liquid fabric softener as much as the sheets; so this is a great way to use up my fabric softener!

Interesting idea! I’ve always been happy with the sheets. Would be curious to know about any germ issues as sponges are known to hold them.
