Fall is by far my favorite time of the year. When I was a little girl fall was always the beginning of something great, a new school year, a new set of clothes and always a parade in my hometown to honor the farmers for all their amazing crops they harvested. I loved fall, it’s the perfect time of year. For me, fall also means apples, pears, and pumpkins. They always bring back wonderful childhood memories. Can you believe my husband never ever ate a pear?

During one of our recent trips to Walmart I asked him to pick a few pears in the produce section for me while I strolled the rest of the store and I got that empty looking face staring back at me like “What…pears? You want what?”. Ahhmm, yeah I had noooo idea that my husband never had pears, ever!! Maybe cause he grew up in Florida and fall produce isn’t like the Tropical Fruits? I give him the benefit of the doubt, but really?
You know what that meant for me, right? I had to come up with a recipe to show him how awesome fall is and how amazing the fall products can be. I quickly grabbed a few other items like M&M’s® Milk Chocolate Harvest, Mott’s® Apple Sauce, Snapple® drink, a Pillsbury™ Moist Supreme® cake mix and Pillsbury™ Creamy Supreme® frosting to whip up an amazing dessert that will remind me of fall and will bring fall closer to my husband. Oh and for him to experience a pear; I still can’t get over that!
Also, before I forget, I wanted to quickly mention that there is an amazing Sweepstake where 2 winners can win a KitchenAid mixer weekly!! Be sure to check out all the info further down in the post, after my amazing Pear Pecan Apple Crisp recipe of course.
Really, my husband never ate a Pear, I’m still stunned by that and whipped up the smell of fall in a simple, old fashioned but timesaving fashion. You should have been in my house, the smell was amazing!
The smell of this Pear Pecan Apple Crisp was amazing, thanks to the help of a few good friends a/k/a M&M’s® Milk Chocolate Harvest, Mott’s® Apple Sauce, Snapple® drink, a Pillsbury™ Moist Supreme® cake mix and Pillsbury™ Creamy Supreme® frosting I got the dessert done in no time. Add the fresh fruit and you have yourself a semi-homemade dessert that will be a winner at every fall table. Think Halloween, think Thanksgiving and if you are very brave, think Christmas. It will be perfect as a take along for a potluck or family get together if you are in charge of the dessert section.

Spoon on some whip cream or top it with a spoon of vanilla ice cream and drizzle with Pillsbury™ Creamy Supreme® Caramel Apple frosting and you have simply a delicate treat that will be loved by everyone and everyone will think you slaved in the kitchen for hours. I also love to serve it with a few spoonful of Mott’s® Apple Sauce to make it a little moist if it’s too dry. YUMM!
Back to my husband, I know you are dying to know if he enjoyed his first taste of a pear. I’m happy to announce that he LOVED it! He was amazed by the texture, the taste and the flavor and couldn’t believe he had never ventured out to eat this simple fall fruit that is simply a MUST on my fall shopping list.

Do you have any fall products or produce that you have heard about but never tried? Why not? Would love to hear all about it and maybe we can find you a delicious recipe to incorporate something new with something you already love, like I did with all my M&M’s® Milk Chocolate Harvest, Mott’s® Apple Sauce, Snapple® drink, a Pillsbury™ Moist Supreme® cake mix and Pillsbury™ Creamy Supreme® frosting products.

I love upside down cake made with almost any fruit available baked in a cast iron skillet. It seems to get more “carmelly” with chewy edges. It makes my my water just thinking about it. I love them more in the fall I think because the intense heat of summer is gone and I can turn on my oven again.
