The kids are back to school and slowly things are getting back to normal, I bet you hear “Mom, just 5 more minutes” every night trying to get the kids to bed. It used to be like that in our house, too and always drove me crazy. I have things to do once the kids go to bed and if I can’t get them to bed it always meant that I would have to push off my chores till they are in bed like working on this sponsored Netflix #StreamTeam post till the wee hours.
I promise my kids came up with ideas from they have to paint their nails to oh they need to see if the dog in the show XYZ is finishing his dinner to mom, this is a cooking show don’t you want me to learn how to cook excuse, to stay up #5moreminutes. Yeah my kids had all the stat of the art excuses as to why they should stay up 5 more minutes.
A few month ago we started a bedtime routine that has worked wonders. The kids are going to bed on time every night and no issues anymore. Want to know my secret? Well, let me tell you it’s Netflix.
Yes! I said Netflix. Now you think, how in the world can you create a bedtime routine with Netflix when you are trying to get the kids to go to bed. No, I didn’t plant them in front of the TV till they fell asleep, nope I wouldn’t keep them up all night watching TV either. But what we did worked so well and will work with any age, I’m sure.
Our routine is like that, the kids get their night outfits, showers, teeth brushing and all that bedtime stuff done by 7pm, and after that they can pick one show or movie on Netflix a night, each night a different kid gets to pick, sometimes they vote and pick one together. Once the show is over, the kids know that without any question they all get up and find me and my husband if we aren’t watching with them to say good night and we will tuck them into bed. It has worked wonders! By starting our routine at 7pm that ensures that all the kids no matter what show or movie they will pick are done and in bed by 8:30. Voila! Bedtime routine can be so simple.
The other day the kids really love the Care Bears & Cousins, I had to sit and watch. Sure brought back childhood memories for me, I loved watching the Care Bears movie when I was little. Great family time for sure.

Another movie we are looking forward to watching as a family is I’ll be home for Christmas, always a fun movie. A few more movies that are on our watch list for our Bedtime routine have been the Walt Disney Animated Studios Short Films Collection. The kids can’t get enough of these. We are also looking forward to Mickey’s Once upon a Christmas to make it a family holiday tradition.
There you go, a few of our favorite movies we will be watching within the next month and hopefully with our Bedtime routine ideas you will get the kids in bed in no time, too.
I’m part of the Netflix #StreamTeam and I was provided compensation or promotional items for this post. All opinions and ideas are 100% my own.
