Sundays is always Family day in our house. Every Sunday we have breakfast as a family together on one table and no electronics, TV, cell phones, tablets and whatever else you can think off. Nope, just my family and I, having fun and relaxing, talking about all sort of things.

I love my Sundays with the kids and treasure them since I know soon I will not have this time. I already have one less at the table, my oldest son moved out earlier in the year and my middle son is only a few years shy from joining the marines and heading out paving his path to his future as well. I love when my babies spread their wings but gosh I wish I had more time with them. So I truly enjoy the time I have and I try to make it special each and every week.

This Sunday wasn’t any different. My daughter requested my famous German waffle recipe and since we had a waffle maker that just collected dust under the cabinet I decided why not. The recipe is fairly easy and the kids will love it. I gathered all my things and started my waffles, when I realized I had no syrup, no jam no nothing in the house to top these waffles with.

Talking about panic and I hate heading out to the store on a Sunday morning, so I looked around and didn’t let anyone notice that I’m in a full blown panic mode, scrunching through all the cabinets and pantries. I did find a lot of things that I maybe, kind of sort of could use, but I want something good if at all possible. I know, what is good, right? Well,… Let me tell you DOLE® Frozen Fruit sat in my freezer oh so patiently waiting for me to open it and then sparkle with its full beauty saying “Me… Pick me!”.

Guess what saved me from a full blown panic attack… Yup… the DOLE® Frozen Fruit , mango to be exact. Growing up in Germany we always had some sort of compote with breakfast or as a dessert and my kids aren’t used to that but it would be a welcome addition to the homemade German waffles that’s for sure.

I love having a few bags of the DOLE® Frozen Fruit in my freezer they go so well in smoothies, desserts, as a snack or even in dinners. I love the convenience that they are already clean, ready to be used and are always ready when I need them. My favorite are the mangos. Have you ever tried to peel, cut and use a fresh mango, well it’s a pain, these DOLE® Frozen Fruit mangos are just as delicious and takes no time at all to open the package.

I love that they are available year round with no washing, no cutting, and no mess, never have to worry what’s in season and what isn’t. I can have a delicious Mango or Strawberry compote way after the season is over, like at Christmas time.

My breakfast was saved and a #DisasterAverted. You can serve these delicious waffles with any of the DOLE® Frozen Fruit and use the same method to make the compote, to switch it up a bit. There you have it, DOLE® Frozen Fruit is the perfect ingredient that can help you prepare for any occasion, even when the unexpected happens, like running out of Waffle toppings.
