Lunch Box Tuesday : Simple Hot Dogs

January 11, 2011 By Melanie Roberts 3 Comments

We are back with Lunch Box Tuesday …..

This one sure is  a favorite in our house and soo simple, I bet your little one will love it, too.

P.s this would be a fun dinner for the little ones, too:-)

You need:

  • 1 (16 ounce) package beef frankfurters
  • 8 slices processed American cheese
  • 8 slices bread
  • 8 teaspoons butter

How to make it:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Take 1 slice of bread and spread 1 teaspoon of butter on one side. Turn the bread over and place a slice of cheese on the bread. Place a frankfurter diagonally on the cheese. Fold bread corner to corner around the frankfurter. Insert a toothpick to hold together. Repeat steps for the remaining frankfurters.
  3. Bake in a preheated oven for 20 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.

I tried this (only made 2 though) and it was pretty good. i cooked it too long, at 25 minutes everything was a little too crispy for my taste. Oh well, lesson learned!

My oven is always different, too… and I usually don’t pre-heat… 🙁 Sorry couldn’t remember exactly how long, ….. glad you liked it tho… 🙂
