Scrapbook Friday – Simple paper tearing technique

January 28, 2011 By Melanie Roberts 7 Comments

Have you ever seen scrapbook pages that look like old torn paper? They are soo cool and unique looking. But do you know that this is actually a very simple technique?

I love to tear my paper and then use it on my scrapbook pages, it gives it a totally different dimension and look, every time. No matter if you use the same paper 10 times, you will get a different layout each and every time, depending on how you tear the paper.
You can tear it into all sorts of shapes and sizes, use just small pieces on your page or an entire page… I also love to shadow the edges with ink, like IĀ  showed you last week on the pictures. Makes an even more dramatic look than plain white edges…

Here are some of the Layouts that I have created with the tearing technique. So Simple, yet one of my favorites, that requires nothing but a piece of paper or velum.

I’ve been thinking of scrapbooking for quite some time now, but I haven’t really had my hands on it until now. Seeing your post somehow reminded me of my unfinished task. Wish me luck!

I have used this technique in layouts before. Combined with vellum and ink, it has a great effect.
