Caillou Toy Review

April 10, 2011 By Melanie Roberts 4 Comments

Have you heard…. There is a cool new pre-School character and his name is “Caillou”. Caillou is a French/ Canadian preschool book/ TV character, the name Caillou translated into English means “bald head”, which fits the little doll perfect, because he is “bald”. You may know Caillou from the numerous of books that have been around since 1987 and TV shows. This cute little “bald head” is a cute little guy that every child will love. Caillou now is being brought to life through Cookie Jar Entertainment with a cool new line of toys. My Toddler was all excited when she found the Caillou doll in the mail the other day.

The new Caillou doll is 14.5 inches and as cute as can be; his entire body is soft and cuddly and his head is hard plastic and looks just like the cute cuddly fellow we are known from the books and TV shows. He is dressed in his trademark the yellow shirt with blue pants and red shoes, as well as a blue hat; shirts and pants can be completely, easily removed to be washed; the hat can be removed, too; however I will leave it attached as long as I can, for some reason we always loose hats, I’m sure it’s not any different in your house. My toddler is in love with this doll; this doll isn’t just for girls, that’s the nice thing. It can be liked by both girls and boys alike; so if you have a little boy who likes to play baby dolls, but hubby is totally against “HIS” son playing with girl toys, this would be a great choice to get. Easter is just around the corner, I bet your toddler would love to have Caillou in the Easter basket. My toddler went to bed with Caillou last night and kept asking me if Caillou could go and eat lunch with her, and play outside with her; she was totally obsessed with this doll. I do have to admit, he’s a cutie patuty J This doll is made with high quality products and craftsmanship, I pulled arms and legs and everything is in perfect condition. To be honest this is one of the few dolls I would totally recommend that the prize of $ 29.99 I justified; If you know me, I hardly ever pay full price for things, but looking at this Caillou doll and how well he is made, I would not hesitate spending the $29.99 ( if I can’t find a sale of course..lol). This Caillou doll is recommended age 3+ ( however I would say a 2+ would also be able to love this little guy without a problem, there are no loose parts other than the hat, so keep the hat away if you think it may be an issue).

Caillou also came with a Bath time Vehicle that is recommended for ages 12+ and retails for $16.99… let me tell you, this toy is the coolest and totally a must have Bath toy!!!! It has a motor, that glides the Boat across the tub and the best part NO batteries needed… it has an underwater motor….did I tell you …this is the coolest, lol. My toddler loves bath time and she couldn’t wait to take a bath last night, she even instructed her big brothers to make sure the bathroom is clean so she can take a bath with Caillou. I was very impressed with the quality of the bath toy as well. The product didn’t have any hidden areas where water could hide and mold.. BIG concern with bath toys!!! The other fun thing is that all the characters are snap apart/ snap on and can be interchanged, so Caillu’s head can attach to his Gilbert the pet cat’s head and vice versa… too cute… The motor is awesome, it has a little wind up knob on the bottom and just a little push it goes for quite some time… too cool. Now this is a toy I would call “AWESOME“. This will give your little tike hours of fun!!!! I guarantee it and with the prize of $16.99 not a bad buy either.

I must say, I’m very impressed with both products, the workmanship and quality is superb. You really don’t find quality like this much nowadays, so this deserves some kudos and some bragging. Wonderful stuff…if you are looking for some Easter presents or birthday present for your little Caillou fan, check out the entire selection at Toys’R Us.com or you local Toys R Us store, you can also find Caillou at these Online stores, www.fao.com, www.kohls.com, and www.tystoybox.com or if you rather go to a local Store, why not check out the Store Locator.
