Being a Mom of a Tween, Teen and a Toddler, I sure had my shares of diaper changes. Each child was different. The boys had their challenges in the front and I had to hurry to get them closed up as soon as I could… no with a wiggly munchkin, that wasn’t always an easy task and the girl my drama queen, well; she was a challenge all around.
Changing your little ones diapers don’t have to be a chore. So I decided to create a short list to get you some stress free diaper changes through your little ones diaper years. If you have any funny stories to tell, I sure would love to hear them. I know we all have them… and trust me, they are funny.
Some tips to make the “Change” easier on both Mom (or dad) and the little.
-
Distract the little one, hand him/her some toys let them touch the cloth, anything to distract them from what’s going on.
-
Get some exercise in, which ultimatum will distract the little one. Move the legs up and down, like a bicycle, kiss the belly or all sort of movement to get the little ones mind of the diaper change.
-
Massage the little one, get them relaxed, they will calm down and you will see, diaper changes will go so much faster.
-
Have all your supplies ready to go. Don’t open the diaper and then run for the wipes and the diaper and the lotion. Have it all ready to go before you even lay the little one down.
-
Use a flat surface. I never liked the changing tables; I’ve always used a bed or the floor to change diapers. It was so much easier on me, better for the little one, because they had room, no worries that they would fall off and you actually could spend some one on one with them laying there playing for a few minutes.
-
I also handed my Toddler a bottle of milk or water if she really wasn’t coming down and gave me a fit, changing her diaper. That always worked.
-
Encourage your little one to sing a song with you, or just listen to a song. Singing always calmed my Toddler down and made it easier to change her diaper.
Boy, kids can be a challenge no matter what age. Looking back, I don’t miss that at all. Now leave me a comment and let me know what little tips or tricks worked for you when your little one just had a fit when changing the diaper, or if you have a funny diaper story, would love to hear it.
