August is one of the busiest times of the year for car travel, especially with kids heading back to school and attempts to sneak in a last-minute vacation before Labor Day. However, Labor Day is one of the most dangerous holidays for car travel so there’s no better time than now for you and your family to prepare in case of an auto accident.
That’s why I wanted to let you know about a great new tool that takes the guesswork and emotion out of the situation. NAIC’s free WreckCheck app is designed to help you calmly walk through the steps to take following an auto accident, and it helps you determine what information and details are important when filing an insurance claim, all from your mobile phone. The app even allows you to collect the necessary information on the spot and immediately email it directly to yourself and your insurance agent.
Recent research from NAIC suggests that after an auto accident, many Americans do not know the steps to take or information to share with the other driver involved. Oftentimes, drivers over share personal information that could put them and their families at risk, so downloading the WreckCheck app is a good way to ensure your privacy and the safety of your family.
The app can be found online at iTunes® and Google Play® or by searching “NAIC” at the iTunes store or Android market.
Come check out the FREE App and enter for a $50 Gas card Giveaway, who doesn’t want $50 in FREE Gas? I know Gas in our neck of the woods is getting up there in price and you can never save enough. An App for accidents is super cool as well, you will always have someone by your side right away…LOVE it…
We received the product for our honest review; all opinions are 100% our own and no other compensation was nor will be received; the winner will receive the product directly through the Giveaway sponsor; Facebook is not associated with this giveaway and is hereby released from any and all liability.

You should file a police report after an accident (whether anyone is injured or not) to help facilitate the insurance claims process. I didn’t know that!

Some people think thta they don’t have to report the accident right away, but by doing so it makes the process go by much faster!

No need to provide personal contact info if insurance information is available. (Though ironically, there is a place on the PDF version that I’d imagine is on the app as well for all that detailed information for witnesses. So if a witness, probably should be cautious about giving all that complete info to someone else as well?)

This is something I can identify with: Twenty-nine percent of survey respondents believed they are required to share personal phone numbers. In fact, sharing your phone number is rarely necessary.
My Husband did this after being hit in a car park last year and because he filed a claim the other driver started harassing him

I was surprised to learn you don’t have to share personal info. In the past when I had a fender bender the other driver and I shared all our contact info…silly me.

Lots of great tips for numerous age groups and reasons but MY favorite tip on the NAIC ‘s Free WreckCheck App was for the Military people who serve and leave there loved ones behind to deal with all the home issues in there evrday life until they return from employment to there duty stations or tours. And that tip was :Special Auto Insurance Considerations for Members of the Military Which tips you to the knowledge of three choices in changes to your auto ins that you make while you are out on duties serving. As a military wife of now a retired naval officer in which we traveled & lived many places in that 20 year time frame, So many times I had to deal with unessasary auto ins with our provider on the vehicles that were not driven due to him being out on long deployment cruises, or dealing with the ins provider requesting verbal consent for changes to our policy. So yes, take advantage of these great tips and save yourself as a spouse left behind the added headache that you can avoid by having your military spouse to make those changes before they depart. Great tips for that group of people found below, thanks

State laws vary, but in most cases you need only provide your name and vehicle insurance information, which should include the name and phone number of your insurance provider.

I learned you should not give your driver’s license number because many retailers accept driver’s license information to verify your identity over the phone. In fact, your license number is the most common way to confirm your identity after Social Security number and date of birth.

Giving you address is unnecessary unless the driver cannot prove ownership or license to drive car which is why you should always call the police before leaving the scene of the accident. Plus giving your address gives the person access to your home and puts you at risk.
