Each year we try to make some fun Halloween Gifts for our Teachers and even neighbors; we call them “Boo” Gifts. This year I wanted to include the brand new Candy Corn White Chocolate from M&M’s. I love white chocolate and this is different, and to be honest… it was my excuse to snag a bag and eat them all by myself :0). Since they are exclusively at Wal-Mart, we jumped into the car and went on a road trip to Wal-mart.
It took us a while to find the new Candy Corn M&M’s; they decided to hide and seek for a bit, but they couldn’t outsmart this Crazy Mom and when all was said and done, we had 4 bags of this yummy heaven send white goodness in our basket….We decided on Cookies in a Jar; I think the teachers will be really surprised and it would make for a fun Sunday afternoon activity with the kids.
I was asked to come up with a fun Craft that includes the Candy Corn White Chocolate M&M’s, however I was raised to NOT play with your food, because it is too precious. So I hope that my Cookie in the Jar Craft creation will count towards “craft”….since we are crafty, yet not waste any food… :0)
This is what you need to make the Cookies in a Jar gift:
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 1/3 cups flour
- 1 cup oats
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup M&M’s Candy Corn White Chocolate *This recipe will fill one quart canning jar.
We also used ribbon, fabric to cover the jars, fun Ghosts and a notepad for the instructions. You can decorate your jars whichever way you like.
This is how to make them:
Mix the baking soda, baking powder and flour in a bowl, fill into your jar; pack on the oats and then pack in the brown sugar; add your candies last. Close your jar with a nice fabric and a ribbon and your fun Cookie Jar Gifts are ready. This is such a fun and easy craft for your little ones to help; they could help measure and add the sugar and decorate. My Tween and Toddler had a blast.
We also added the Cookie instructions to the Jar:
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Beat 3/4 cups (1 1/2 sticks) softened unsalted butter, 1 egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla in a large bowl until well blended. Add cookie mix and blend in to smooth any clumps. Drop tablespoon full onto ungreased pan and bake 9-11 minutes.
Cool on pan then remove to rack to completely cool.We also added a little Poem:
This treat is for you,
we hope you enjoy.
The idea is simple,
one we hope you employ.
You pass “BOO” along
to two other Teachers.
Along with any kind
of Halloween favors.
If we all do our part,
and spread the good cheer,
By Halloween night it
will be very clear,
We’re a friendly bunch,
we like to share fun
So please do your part
to keep “BOO” on the run!Now this was such a simple idea but the kids are super excited to bring each of their teacher a little Halloween Gift from the heart… and the best part.. with the new Candy Corn White Chocolate M&M’s :0).
I did tell you that we LOVE the new White Chocolate M&M’s… right? Well, I love them so much that I’m actually thinking of buying every single box at my local Walmart, since they are exclusive to Walmart and are only available during the Halloween Season, I have to come up with a way to keep them around me ALL YEAR LONG!!
The kids are super proud of their creations and can’t wait to take them to school on Friday and “BOO” the teachers…. are you planning to “BOO” anyone? If not, it’s a good time to get started and make someone smile this year :0)…..
HAPPY HALLOWEEN……. BOOOOO

I have to say, this post is amazing! I know it must have taken a LONG time to put together. I write BlogWithMom.com and am going to place a link to this on my site soon. I am looking for a few Halloween recipes / tips to include on my site this month. Have you got any more Halloween ideas / posts I could link to as well? I write reviews and am behind at the moment, so I just haven’t found alot of time to put into writing Halloween posts right now.
Have a great day,
