What would Christmas be without a brand new pair of Heelys? At least in my house it wouldn’t be Christmas. Each year, for the last 6-7 years one of the kids always had Heelys on their wish list and this year is no other. The Heelys are still as HOT as ever in the eyes of the kids.
Heelys have come a long way since they where first introduced in 2000, that’s right around the time my now 17 year old Teen saw them and had to have a pair; of course he was only a little tike at the time, BUT that was the first Christmas Heelys where under our tree.
Back then, a lot of talk about safety and injuries was going on, just like any new product on the market, the Heelys sounded like a super cool concept, however it needed tweaking. Let’s fast forward to this Christmas, 2012.
I love the changes the Heelys went under; you can completely remove the wheel, anytime, anywhere turning your “Heelys” into everyday super cool tennis shoes; totally safe for every child to wear. They are cushioned and comftible, just like any high quality pair of tennis shoes you want your kids to wear. I always compare the Heelys with the high quality shoes and always end up loving the Heelys quality that much more. Fabric, quality and comfort are superb.
Would I let my 4 year old use the Heelys? Yes …and No; they do come in sizes as small as Child 12 and as large as Adult sizes. I would let my 4 year old wear them with supervision any day; she gets to learn balancing and paying attention to her surrounding, BUT only if me or my husband are right there, alongside her while she learns to wear the Heelys. No, is towards her wearing these shoes to the Mall, school or on her own! I love the shoes and I love the concept, BUT I highly recommend if you have younger children for them to be highly supervised; they are just like roller skates; we all remember how we learned back in the day…. until your little one is very steady and good about their balance on these shoes, DO NOT let them out on their own; remove the wheel and let them run to the store in their “tennis Shoes”. That’s exactly why I Love Heelys; they are versatile and can be switched from Roller-skates to shoes in no time at all!!
Wonderful; quality shoes that always come out with new surprises; Heelys now have a line that has light up shoes and many different styles and colors for both boys and girls and YES.. mom’s and Dad’s as well. I think I will be sad one day when none of my kids needs a pair of Heelys for Christmas, let’s hope that will not be anytime soon; the Heelys have somewhat turned into a Christmas tradition of their own in our house.
For more information about Heelys be sure to visit them on the Web or follow on Facebook or Twitter. The Heelys retail for $39.99 and up
