Just had to share this Tradition

September 8, 2010 By Melanie Roberts 10 Comments

You may not know that I’m German, born and raised there, moved to the US a few years ago. Anyways, we have this cool tradition at home for every child that starts school ( here it would be Kindergarten, at home it would be 1st Grade) they get this HUGE Cone ( Called Schultuete) filled with all kind of goodies from special pencils ( maybe the ones that have a smell to them or glitter pens) to little games, books, candy… anything you can fit in the Cone will go in, once the cone is stuffed you close it up and present it to the Kids the morning of their first day of school. All the children on their 1st day of  school bring their Cones to school and show them off. Usually the children will  have to wait to open them till they get home, this I remember was soo exciting because you had been sitting in front of this HUGE cone all day wondering what is in there, what did I get…. It is just a cool tradition to make the change from pre-K to BIG school a little bit sweeter for the little ones.

The little Girl in the picture is my nice Rachel, she had her first day of school today, my sister made this cone for her, isn’t it cute….?? I just had to share it with you guys and tell you a bit about me 🙂
