Let’s Go to the Moon Barney #Giveaway

All to often I hear parents say “Oh, barney…really?” or “I don’t like my kids to watch barney”…. and I have to admit, I was one of those parents. My Princess loved Barney and I being the good mom that I’m, let her watch it. But never really thought “Barney..cool.. “ I rather wanted her to watch the cool new Shows like Disney or PBS shows that will teach her something… until the other day when my eyes were actually opened by a 4 year old.

We walked through Walmart and a lady, clearly a trainer, with a dog in training walked by. The dog was very well behaved and my first instinct was “Princess.. Don’t touch the dog” or “How am I gonna tell her that we can’t bring our “regular” dog to the store”; while I still debated which answers would be kid appropriate without too many questions out of her mouth comes “Mom… this is a guide dog, you can’t touch him!” and she made the way clear for the dog. I was kind of impressed thinking that maybe they just recently had a lesson in her Pre-K class, but wasn’t sure. I did ask her how she knew this was a guard dog and how you can’t touch him. Her answer totally baffled and surprised me all at one…..

Well Mom…. I learned that on Barney!! He said you can’t touch a dog that is a guard dog and he’s very special … and she went on for 30 minutes explaining the show to me and how she learned all that!

I was impressed, not only with my Princess, but also with Barney that they cover important aspects like a guard dog and that they taught it in a way that my princess (remember she’s 4) remembered that when she saw her first guard dog in the middle of a store…IMPRESSED!!

Needless to say I will never think twice when she turns barney on and when the newest DVD arrived, I was elated to see what else she could learn.
