Show mom that you care and make it the #BestMomsDayEver

Mother’s Day is slowly approaching and like every year I wish I had my mom close by. My mom along with the rest of my family is in Germany and I’m in Florida. We are a good 5000 miles away, 9 hr. plane ride and many many hours if there was a direct road. However I love my mom just like she would be next door and miss her a lot!

Each year I try to come up with ideas to show her that I love her and even between the miles I will never forget all the things she did and still does for me and my family. While I did some shopping at Walmart during my lunch hour I found this "One-Stop Shop" display by American Greetings. I loved all the fun little gift ideas. I’m a big card person and the cards were just amazing. I wish I could have grabbed one of each.

make it the #BEstMomsDayEver with Walmart that won't break your bank

I spend my entire lunch hour in the card aisle just reading and finding the perfect card for my mom. I left home when I was 18, so many, many moons ago. It took me 15 years to go back home in 2012 for the very first time after I had left  and it was awesome to hold my mom in my arms and chat and just laugh.

It is true when people say “You will not miss something until it’s gone”. I didn’t know how badly I missed my mom and even though we got to go home and spend some time with her last summer, it’s already been a year and I miss her dearly. Do you see your mom regularly? Do you maybe have a certain day each week where you call, chat or Facetime?

Walmart will make it simple to have the #BEstMomsDayEver

I spend a lot of time talking to my mom via Facebook and I’m so thankful for all the fun and new technology nowadays. Back in the day when I left Germany we had very little to stay in touch. Communicating was hard but American Greetings and their amazing cards always stood by my side and I mailed many many cards home to share with my mom how much I miss and love her.

Here I’m again, another Mother’s Day without my mom, but this year is a bit different. I will mail a little goodie box home. I decided to share a small list with you of fun items that you can send to your mom if she is a long distance mom. You don’t have to break the bank and I promise even the smallest gesture will be appreciated. So, grab a pen and take notes.

Make it the #BestMomsDayEver and pick up a few simple items at walmart

My 5 tips to make Mother’s Day special for your long distance Mom

  1. Pick a special card, or maybe even two. Who said one card is all you can mail? Shower mom with lots of card love, how about make it a week long affair and mail a different card every day? I bet Mom would get a kick out of it and feel very special and loved.
  2. Grab small gift items that can be mailed without a problem. I like to find little plagues, notepads, little notebooks anything that will be special to your mom and will remind her of you every time she touches it.
  3. Print a picture and place it in a frame. The best gift anyone can make for their mom is a Picture. Trust me, mom’s love to receive pictures no matter how old you are, it never gets old. Find a nice small frame and surprise your mom.
  4. Keep it simple!! You don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars to show mom you care. A small gesture is all mom wants. Find something that you know mom would enjoy like a cookbook, maybe a nice bottle of body wash, lotion or like my mom enjoys a nice sleep mask. Make it something your mom enjoys. Most items can be found in the dollar bin at your local Walmart.
  5. Pick with love! I think that’s the most important thing. Mom’s love anything the kids will pick, deliver or share as long as it’s made with love or picked with love. trust me, mom’s will feel it and it’s something your mom will treasure for a long time to come.

The #BestMomsDayever doesn't have to break your bank simple ideas to make her smile

See, finding the right Mother’s Day gift doesn’t have to break your bank or make you spend hours wandering the mall. All mom wants is your love and maybe a fun card, anything above that is just extra and earns you bonus points down the road… just saying.

I miss my mom but want to make it the #BestMomsDayEver for her and don't break your bank

I’m off to take my cards and goodies to the post office so my mom can enjoy my love, too. What are your plans for Mother’s Day this year? Would love to hear it, leave me a comment and let’s chat.

What a wonderful sentiment and I can’t imagine being so far from my stepmom because she is such a support for my family. I love the gifts that American Greetings has this year and I’m sure your mom will love your gift to her. #client
