There is a new Rewards Program in town, have you heard? I can’t wait to tell you all about the brand new Walgreens #BalanceRewards. The fun part, you can download an App to your Smartphone or iPhone and even iPad to make shopping even easier, quicker and let’s you stay in your PJ’s if needed and they will ship everything directly to your door. But first let me tell you what the program is all about. I’m super excited and already started to save a bundle in the last few days.
Each week Walgreens will feature hundreds of products at a special price for using your Balance Rewards card; there will also be a lot of deals to earn extra points, which can be redeemed towards future purchases, just like cash. The best part, the points virtually don’t expire (BUT, after 3 years or if your account is inactive you will loose the points) and you can use as little as 5,000 ($5.00) points on your next transaction.
Earning points is very easy, just look in the weekly ad for the Balance Reward Symbol and rack in the points towards future purchases, fill your prescriptions and you get 500 points each time, AARP members even get special discounts and points with the Balance Reward card. Be sure to check out Walgreens.com to get the full low down on how to earn points.
How to get your card?
You can sign up online for the Balance Rewards, download the iPhone/iPad or Android App and of course you can go inside the store and sign up with your super friendly neighborhood Walgreens cashiers. I actually loaded the Walgreens App on my iPad and was pleasantly surprised on how well the App works and all the information the App provides. You can view the weekly Sales flier, the monthly coupons catalog, deals and even refill your prescription. All right there on your iPhone/ Smart phone, anytime anywhere. You can even place your order, use your Balance Rewards and have the order shipped directly to your door; isn’t that cool? If you have a sick little one at home or just a super busy week and you have to grab a few things from the sales flier, all you have to do is pull out your iPhone/iPad or Smartphone and place your order. It’s that simple and will only take a few steps and minutes.
On the Walgreens App you can also easily track your Balance Rewards and all your purchases, whether made in store or online. Loving it! I love to keep track of what I purchase and at what price, this App makes it super easy. I also have a little secret….. “There are coupons on the App” …giggle. I was ecstatic when I saw the “exclusive” coupons.
After I played with the App and signed up for my Balance Rewards account (signup only took 5 minutes, super simple), I grabbed a few of my paper coupons and headed to my neighborhood Walgreens to check out what deals they had in store and to grab one of the actual Balance Reward Cards. I like to have a “Physical” card as well, just in case my phone won’t work one day or if hubby needs to run in. We sure don’t want to miss out on any reward points or deals. BUT, you can also access your account at checkout with your phone number, no worries.
I strolled the store and after 3 packs of Cottonell, 2 Nescafe Memento and 2 Neosporin’s later, I ended up paying $27, received 10,000 ($10) in Reward Points and a $3 Coupon good on my next purchase, making this Balance Reward thing a SWEET Deal, don’t you think?
Have you signed up yet? I definitely have given you many simple reasons why and how to sign up, there shouldn’t be an excuse why you don’t have the Walgreens App on your phone or the Balance Rewards card in your wallet, it’s completely FREE and will save you a bundle. In the 4 days I had the card I saved close to $100 on 2 shopping trips, AMAZING!! Love this cute, blue little card and totally addicted to the phone App.
For more information about the the new Walgreens Balance Reward Program or to download the iTunes/Android App, be sure to head over to Walgreens on the Web or follow on Facebook and Twitter to never miss a deal!! I’ve also created a Google Plus story showing you my shopping trip and how the Walgreens App works, be sure to head over and check it out.

I signed up using my iPad and noticed that the iPhone app had coupons that the iPad didn’t. But I didn’t see that there was an option for deal alerts via text! Thanks for the heads-up!
