It’s been six months since I first told you about our new cheap wireless phone adventure and it’s been 6 months since I switched my cell phone from a regular plan to an unlimited no contract plan through Walmart. WOW… 6 months sure flew by and I can’t believe we had the phone that long. So far we are still loving the phone and the Cheap Wireless Plan service. We are in an area where T-Mobile, which is the servicer for the Walmart #FamilyMobileSaves plans, has lots of coverage.
We hardly have any dropped calls nor any lost signal issues and for the low monthly fee of $40 we get unlimited text and talk and Web; there is also 1GB of Data included which is perfect for us to check our e-mails, update Facebook or get directions to a store or restaurant.
We did not renewal our contract with a big carrier as it ran out and are now in the process of moving the entire family over to the #FamilyMobileSaves plans. The savings of the plan for one phone has helped us purchase the other phone and will down the road also help us purchase two additional ones, one for each Teen.
The bill comes in each month and it’s the same amount every month; no guessing no overages, just the same amount to put into the budget and keep moving on. I haven’t looked back once to the higher cell phone carrier and even with the purchase of the phones, this ends up to be a better value for our family, that’s for sure.
Another nice thing about purchasing the phone, at least in our home, everyone takes better care of their phone; they know if something goes wrong they will not get a new phone for some time, I just don’t have that kind of money laying around, so they buy covers, charge it, keep it in their pockets and try not to drop it. I’ve seen they were more careless with the phones that we got through our contract carrier. The same phones, just I guess the kids thinking “We will just get a new one once it breaks” and with a contract carrier that may be the option, not with the unlimited one monthly bill plan through Walmart. I kind of love the way they changed their mindset and also use it as a tool to teach the kids to value their electronics or any other items that they like to keep for a long time. So far it’s working out well for us.
From ordering pizza on the way home from a long day at the office to getting directions to a hotel that you are spending a much needed family vacation at, your Walmart “FamilyMobileSaves unlimited Web has you covered on the cheap wireless plan that will fit your budget and your family. It sure has been a blessing for our family and we wouldn’t miss the best wireless plan and the amazing savings that are piling up in our savings account for our trip home to Germany in the summer of 2014.
What would you do with a little extra saving and a budget friendly cheap wireless plan? Would love to hear your story on what your hate-love relationship with your current wireless carrier is… let’s hear it.. the good, the bad and yes… the ugly… I’m over that and only have GOOD things to say about my beloved cell phone plan that is cheap, budget friendly and keeps everyone connected.
I know I’ve said it before and I will totally drive you crazy until you check out the unlimited Txt, Talk and Web plan at your local Walmart; because I know this plan ROCKS… and we save a bundle using it! That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

We are under contract right now… plus my Hubs gets a really good deal with our current provider. We may be looking into something like this when our current contract is up.

I have heard about the great Walmart plans and think they are great! We have a ridiculously expensive one (150 dollar a month) and as soon as our contract expires, we will get a cheaper one too!

I love that phone! It’s so expensive without a contract, though. 🙁 That’s why I use the same wireless plan but have a crappy cheap phone instead … for now. 🙂

I love that your family is taking better care of their phones! A great lesson to teach them! And man, 6 months does fly by! I’ve had our Walmart phone for….shoot…5 months! That went fast! I love how easy it is to manage my phone and account and the savings are awesome!

I love this plan as a way to give kids their own phone. I am getting to the point where I think my girls can be alone for a a bit but since we don’t have a land line, I need a way for them to be able to call me. A cheap way!

I’m actually in a pretty good plan right now, but this sounds great for that “in between” period when you’re looking for a new carrier or plan. I think it’s great that your family members are seeing their phones as personal investments now rather than things that can be easily replaced. It’s great to learn about taking care of your things and making them last.

That is such a great deal! $40/month for unlimited everything? I pay way more than that with Sprint but unfortunately for me I’m locked into a 2 year contract. 🙁

This looks like a really good deal. Once our family plan contract is over I am going to have to look into this for my family. You can never find too many ways to save money.

Here in Canada it’s pretty expensive to have phones right now. I did get 3 iPhone 4s last year for free, but I had to agree to a 3 year contract for those 3 phones (1 for me and 2 for my teens). So my monthly bill is almost $200. I hope there is more choice available by the time this contract is up.

We live in a large city and our plan has been fabulous here. However, we recently went on vacation and visited a rural area and the coverage really was lacking.

I keep hearing such wonderful things about these wireless plans. My plan just went up another 15 dollars and I am under contract for another two years. I really like the fact that there is no contract to fill out along with the discounted rates.

Wow, you have a nice phone with a big screen!
I currently have a non-contact through Virgin Mobile. And it’s perfect for me. No suprising fees every month and a nice, low price. I love it!

I think what bothers me most of all about the whole thing is that phones are locked to carriers. I wish you could just choose a phone and then activate it with anyone! I’m tired of being in a contract too and it annoys me that you have to buy out or take a penalty if you want to switch. Your way seems much better.
