We are back with another amazing cookbook. we love Gooseberry Patch and when the latest book “Weeknight Dinners” arrived, I couldn’t wait to go through. We are all busy and meal planning is always a chore and a hassle, but we all should do it. It will save us a bundle on our grocery bill and will keep healthy home cooked meals on our families tables; no more last minute fast food run; especially if you have a copy of the “Weeknight Dinners” in your home.
The nice part about Gooseberry is, that ALL recipes have been tested and are used by families like yours and mine every day. Real people are the ones sending their very own family recipes, that their family loves and enjoys and share them with all of us. You know that will make a great hit in your home. you know it will turn out amazing, because the ingredients used are simple and most of them probably already in your pantry.
The Weeknight Dinners is super fun and will be a lifesaver in my family. The book has 218 pages, jam packed with recipes that are simple, yet delicious. Each recipe has a category and the book is divided into “Meatless Monday”, Tex-Mex Tuesday, Wednesday night is Italian Night, Comfort Food Thursday and Just for Fun Friday.
If you counted, that’s 5 days.. meals planned for you and over 250 recipes to choose from; from chicken to pork to even dessert, everything your family will love is right there in the book. We love Gooseberry, because we know it will turn out amazing; the books look like they are “handwritten” and it’s just a lot of fun to go through that many recipes, knowing they are all amazing.
We decided to make the Hungarian Goulash, most of you know we are German’s and my kids love our German Goulash, so I’m hoping that the Hungarian isn’t that far off from ours and my kids will make this another favorite.
This is what you need:
What a simple recipe, that we tossed into the crockpot and after a busy day at the office and before soccer practice we could all sit down and enjoy a nice home cooked dinner. The boys loved it. It was super yummy and mom got two thumbs up (shhhh.. don’t tell the kids I got the idea from Gooseberry Patch…. lol). We served cucumber sour cream salad and French bread with our dinner.
This is yet another wonderful book that will be in our kitchen for good; we sure don’t wanna go another week without it; and you shouldn’t either. Gooseberry Patch graciously offered one book as a Giveaway, so be sure to enter below and start cookin’.
I can honestly say, this Weeknight Dinners is another wonderful addition to any recipe collection; best part is you can get a bunch of FREE recipes through Gooseberry Patch.com; I was actually amazed at how many FREE recipes they offer out of each book.
You can also follow Gooseberry patch on Twitter,Facebook, their Blog or check out all the books, recipes and ideas on their Website. By far they are amazing and a wonderful resource in any kitchen.

would love to make this but don’t have Hungarian paprika could I use regular parpika ? Is there a difference.
Melanie Roberts says
The Hungarian is a bit different in flavor, but I always use regular sweet paprika if I don’t have the Hungarian and it turns out just as good 🙂

I love the little “country” illustrations in the Gooseberry Patch cookbooks!

I love meals in a slow cooker. The hardest part for me is to remember to takethe meat out and have it thawed out in order to put it on in the morning. I have taken to leaving myself notes reminding me! LOL
Melanie Roberts says
Barb …. you know I sometimes don’t even thaw the meat; just toss it in. especially if I know I have a long day, or more time for it to cook and hour or so longer; really not a problem 🙂

I’m so glad I found this recipe (and site)! I am going to try to make the Goulash, maybe I can impress my German mother-in-law? LOL would love the whole book too, I need help in the kitchen! By the way, where do I buy Hungarian Paprika? I don’t see that in my local grocery store..?
Melanie Roberts says
Hi Mary; glad to have you and BTW I have a LOT of German recipes on the blog, just look on the top bar, maybe there is something you can impress your German Mother in law with…:-) .. I’m German, too ..I bet she will love it. Mhh I thought they sell Hungarian Paprika at the store, I got mine at World Market, but regular paprika will work well, too. Good luck and keep me posted.
