Why did I want a Girl??

May 28, 2011 By Melanie Roberts 11 Comments

Okay, being a Mom of a 2Boys and a Girl I have my share of struggles and laughter’s; My oldest, “THE BOYS” always were easy, almost like model kids; They were perfect babies, ate when and what I gave them, dressed the way I wanted them to and pretty much they were my little puppets J. Perfect picture book kids…… I loved my boys ( I still do..lol)… so easy and not a worry in the world….. that all came to a screeching hold that cold winter day when the toddler arrived… A GIRL…..!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone was excited to have a girl and we still are. I love my Toddler, don’t get me wrong.. BUT … why do girls have to be so difficult? Do you see a big difference between your boys and your girls??

My Toddler is really driving me up a tree… is it maybe cause she is soo much like me??

Look at our pictures…. Do we look alike or what?? I hear stories from my aunt all the time what a mean girl I was and I always got my older uncle ( we are 6 years apart) in trouble; that sounds sooo much like my Toddler and her brothers….. She is a little “devil”. I always tell everyone when I hear ” I love her red hair”…. I tell them ” The hair goes with the attitude…lol”.

Why are girls sooo difficult.. or is it just me, was I just spoiled with two easy going boys and now my challenge in life is the toddler? She screams, she throws fits she will never wear what I give her, everything always has to be the opposite then what mom tells her… I’m soo not used to this.. Please tell me, my toddler is normal and this is how girls are… wait .. NO I don’t want to hear that this is how girls are…..Please tell me this is just a phase.. and no not a phase that will last 20 years either….

I have hopes that if she is like me that one day she will be that sweet little girl that will turn out okay.. for right now I will just struggle with the little red head till we bud heads….:-)

Would love to hear your story about Boys vs. girls… who do you think is easier to handle or what stories do you have to tell???

You also have to take into consideration that she also has some of her FATHER’S attributes. (She’s got the family’s stubbornness and her father’s love for being “center of attention!” ) Don’t let him sit there and tell you that I’m lying..We have the pictures to prove it!

The toddler and tween’s bickering is just a reminder of what it was like growing up with your husband!

It’s not about boys vs. girls..its more like family traits. The boys’ easy going personalities must of came from someone in the family ( like grandpa for example) and the toddler got her fiery personality from you AND your husband!

    Something to think about. haha

You wanted a girl because you’re a crazy mom! 🙂 I have never and will never want a girl. I always joke that if I get a girl I will give her back. All of my nieces and friends girls have quite the attitude problems. However, I will say that 2-4 yrs old always seemed to be the worst (till the teen years of course!) and around 4 years old things started to get better. So there IS hope! 🙂 Hang in there- someday it will be great to have a girl!

Yep, it’s normal. I have 2 girls and a boy who are all now in their twenties. The girls were 100 times more difficult to raise than the boy.

Girls just seem to be such drama queens and boys are just not as complicated.
I don’t have any advice on how to get through it. You just do.

Being a female myself, I appreciate much more what my parents had to deal with after I had girls myself.

My sister had the girl first who was compliant, sweet and basically smart and perfect. Then along came the boy who was so much like my sister in personality and still is. They really butted heads. I think it’s the personality and birth order.

visiting here from the sunday stalker hop and MUST say I loved this post and had to snicker and smile a bit too. You see, I raised THREE girls and NO boys!!!! Yes, I am alive to tell the tale!!! LOL I always heard how much harder girls were, but we didn’t know any difference cuz that is all we had…now I have two grandSONS and man, they are a bit easier! 🙂 Wait til that toddler girl of yours is a tween…yeah there were days I thought I was going to go crazy…cuz I had THREE tweens!!!ahhhh. 😉
Oh and yeah…one MORE thing…I am a REDhead as well as 2 of the 3 daughters!!!! So had to smile at your comment about the attitude and the red hair. Whenever someones says something about me being stubborn, I say; I do not have red hair for nothin’!!!!! 🙂

No stories on boys vs. girls yet, but I’ve got a boy now and a girl on the way, and I have to say that as far as the boy goes, he’s the exact opposite of yours. He’s a terror. He’s all over the place, into everything, and never listens to anything. I’m hoping the girl will be a little calmer!

I always thought girls were easier because they aren’t as hyper as boys are. I have an 8 month old so I’ve not had to deal with a toddler of my own yet though 🙂

Oh my lord, sometimes I think my daughter is crazy! Like you and your daughter mine is my image. We look alike. We sound alike. We drive each other crazy alike. I suppose I know where she’s coming from, but it doesn’t really make it any easier does it? My mom laughs and says she’s only two, just wait until she’s twelve. Is this why she always tried to curse me that one day I would have a child that acts just like me? Well, it came true, lol…

My boys, however, are angels. They listen. They don’t argue. They go to bed on time. They clean up. You know, I think it was my husband that wanted a girl so bad. What a crazy, crazy man!

Good luck with your toddler. It sounds like she and mine would be great friends, lol. 🙂
