Remember all these brands? A few days ago I mentioned how they all work together to Cross of Hunger in America; they are all part of the Unilever family and since I learned that Unilever isn’t just helping to Cross of Hunger, they are also part of another wonderful project to create a SUSTAINABLE LIVING PLAN for all of us and sharing with everyone how we can get involved as well.
Trust me, it is simple to create a Sustainable Living Plan and you probably are already taking steps without knowing it. Do you recycle? Do you reuse? How about watching your water usage while brushing teeth? I bet you are doing some of these simple steps already and it will pay out in the long run; I know these are a few things that we do to contribute to the environment. ![]()
Unilever has dedicated an entire website with tips, ideas and how their progress is going in helping and educating everyone in the path of a better lifestyle for everyone. Living a better life doesn’t stop with recycling, reusing or saving water; it also includes good nutrition for everyone, regular medical and dental checkups as well as many other ways to stay healthy all year round. Unilever has reached 100 million people with their hand washing, oral care and self-esteem programs, and a further 35 million with safe drinking water. That’s pretty remarkable!
Unilever is an amazing company, doing amazing things for all of us and not just because we buy their products. Honestly, I LOVE their products and that long before I knew that my favorite brand like Dove or Knorr was a Unilever brand. I’m proud to be able to spread the word about how everyone can live a more sustainable life in a simple way and very little effort; it will benefit so many in the long run.
I purchase many Unilever products, not only am I helping Unilever in educating more people across the nation and the world, but I also buy the products because I love them! Many of the Unilever products can find many more uses in your house long after the initial product is gone; Have you ever looked at your empty glass jar of Bertolli Pasta sauce? Do you just toss it?
Things that we re-use in many ways….
The glass jars can be washed and used for so many things around the house like saving leftovers; using the glass jars to store dry goods in your pantry, scrapbook items or any kind of craft items as well. The possibilities to re-use these glass jars are endless and will help a lot in reusing products and eliminating waste.
The little plastic containers that the Knorr Stock comes in can be used in many, many ways as well. I like to use them for individual paint containers for the kids; they are small and perfect for a paint brush and when you are done, either wash them or recycle them; I also like to use them for little snack containers; once they are washed they can be used for craft storage containers or even hold your office supplies like paper clips or rubber bands.
The cardboard boxes for the Onion Soup mix or the Chicken Noodle soup mix can be used in many ways as well. I love the size of the boxes and they make wonderful Christmas decorations if you wrap them in fancy Christmas paper, voila… Fake presents or for every day living you can use the cardboard to create your very own cardboard scrapbook album, they are sturdy and perfect size and each box makes 2 front and back pages… super simple and a perfect way to recycle and even save money by not purchasing more cardboard for your album.
The butter tubs for Country Crock can be re-used in, oh.. Millions of ways; you can store leftovers in the fridge, hand them to your guest for take home food after a fun evening or Christmas dinner; use them to store all kind of items from toys to crafts to even hardware in the garage; anything and everything can be organized in these amazing tubs; they come in different sizes and I know everyone will get them at times. If you don’t care for the look of the tubs, mod podge them with your favorite scrapbook or tissue paper and voila, butter tubs are personalized and in style to fit your need….
I could come up with many more ideas but I bet you have a few of your own? Would love to hear them.
I gave you a few ideas how you can re-use the products that you already have in your kitchen. Together we all can make a difference; head over and check out many more, I really mean MANY more ideas on how to make a sustainable living with all the amazing things Unilever is doing; check them out on the WEB and most definitely like Unilever on Facebook or Tweet along on Twitter to help spread the word and don’t forget to check out Making Life Better or their Facebook page to see how you can help Cross of Hunger; after all we are #BetterTogether!
I also created a Google Plus story so you can follow my trip through Walmart, exploring many Unilever products that I had no idea are part of the Unilever Family; come see which products I found.
For a simple German Leek Au Gratin recipe, that uses the Knorr Homestyle Stock, be sure to head over to my recipe page to get you an idea on how to use the Stock in the small containers.
