Gnomeo & Juliet
Have you seen the new “Gnome” in town? I have been waiting for this movie to come out on DVD for month now; I’ve seen the previews and knew I had to check it out. I love Garden Gnomes, we had them all over in Germany; every garden had the little garden gnomes. Today was a dark rainy afternoon in central Florida, just perfect to huddle up on the couch and watch a family movie.
This movie is based on William Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet, Gnomeo & Juliet features two garden gnomes in forbidden love. The couple looks to find lasting happiness and avoid tragedy as they are caught in the middle of a feud between the blue and red garden gnomes.
What a fun movie this is, completely 100% family friendly; even for the littlest of Disney fans. My Toddler was laughing the minute she saw Gnomeo and did not start till the movie was over; she asked for the movie to be played again and again; it was a Hit with the toddler; the tween was excited to watch the movie and it didn’t take much convincing of the Teen to sit down and have a great family afternoon.
The story was very nicely done, the pictures are out of this world and the sound track to me was just awesome. Disney’s movies lately have the best songs in the movies and it always fits perfect. We had a blast watching the little gnomes battle each other in a lawnmower race, fight each other because one was blue and one was red and even fall in love with the wrong colored gnome. Such a fun and entertaining movie.
After the movie was over we took some time and explored the 2 alternate endings and the deleted scenes; I think the directors made a wonderful decision in deleting and
editing the scenes till they were perfect; the final end product is absolutely adorable and we loved it; I do have to admit the one ending where the red and blue gnomes re-build everything united and made it all one happy garden was really cute, too. I would have loved to see that ending just as much as the one they put on the final version.
Kuddos to Disney for yet another wonderful animated movie for the entire family to watch; we must have spend a good 30+ min exploring the extra features when we realized that some of the funny characters in the movie were well known people like Ozzy Osbourne as the Fawn ( Hilarious), Hulk Hogan and many more, of course Elton John wrote and directed the songs and movie. He did a wonderful job; we loved the movie.
