A few weeks ago I attended the Box Top University, courtesy of General Mills ( you can read up on all of the cool Box Top stuff HERE). I decided to spend an extra day in Minneapolis and tour Mall of America. After all, I may never be able to go back and see it.
Mall of America has been a BIG want to see item, I’m a big shopper and who doesn’t want to see this cool attraction, I was only 10 minutes away from the Mall, I had to see it.
My friend Crystal from Surviving a Teacher Salary and I got all excited when we pulled up to the Mall. It looked so cool to finally see this National Attraction in person;
Did you know:
- The Mall of America has a gross area of 4,200,000 sq ft (390,000 m2) or 96.4 acres, enough to fit seven Yankee Stadiums inside.
- Over 520 stores are inside the Mall of America
- Despite Minnesota’s cold winters, only the mall’s entrances and some below ground areas are heated.
- Two nearly identical seven story parking ramps on the east and west sides of the mall provide 12,287 parking spaces.
- Nickelodeon Universe is an indoor theme park in the center of the mall. The park features roller coasters, among numerous other rides and attractions, and is the largest indoor theme park in the United States.
- It also has a miniature golfing section called Moose Mountain. This miniature golf course features eighteen holes and a relatively fast AstroTurf surface.
- The Mall has a 14-screen movie theater
- Sea Life Minnesota Aquarium is also located inside the mall.
It was an awesome experience, you can spend as much money or as little money as you want. This Crazy Mama didn’t spend any money at all. It was a lot of fun sitting down watching the people, checking out the cool entertainment in the Nickelodeon Theme Park and browsing the stores.
I highly recommend if you are in the area take a day and check out the mall, it’s an attraction that will keep you and even the kids occupied for hours.

One of my dreams is to visit all 50 states, so when I’m in MN, I will have to visit the Mall of America… if it’s still standing. Thanks for sharing your wonderful adventure at the Mall with us!
