Are you addicted to those yummy Coffeehouse specialty drinks? I know I’m. They aren’t cheap and not all that healthy for you either, but they are soooooo good.
I was asked to be part of a savings challenge from International Delight Iced Coffee and I jumped at the opportunity. How much could I really save by switching to an Iced Coffee that would be available at your local store like Walmart and comes in a half a gallon carton? Will the taste be any good? I’m spoiled by my Venti Frappuccino, but at a cost of $5.39 per Frappuccino and I drink one at least every morning on my way to work, that’s not a cheap addiction.
On a regular morning this is what I order from my favorite coffee house specialty shop; check out the calories and the fat content on the 24 oz that I usually buy every morning…..
WOW…. I had no idea that I take in over 500 calories a day just from my favorite drink, and since I buy one every day the cost would run over $25 a week more if I get a 2nd one on some stressful days….I’m definitely up for the International Delight Savings Challenge and will take all of you along and show you how much I will save, or if I will save any money during the month of March.
My plan is to skip my favorite coffeehouse drink and replace it with the new International Delight Iced Coffee in my 24 oz Tumble and bring it to the office every morning. I will keep a savings calculator on the right side of the blog so you can also see if I save, is it worth it and how my savings are going throughout March.
Since I have a challenge to save money, I’ve also decided to put a goal for myself, I want to save the money throughout March that I can save by not buying my favorite coffee house drink and put that into our travel fund for our upcoming trip to Germany; My goal is to save at least $100.00 and I will be able to splurge a little extra on our trip this summer.
This is the savings calculator that is on the blog, so far in 4 days I’ve saved $30….. is there something wrong with my eyes?? $30?? in 4 days.. OMG….
I went to Walmart the other day to check out the selection of the International delight and from a previous taste test, I know the Mocha was my favorite. I also found $1/1 coupons online and was able to snag 3 cartons for $2.98 each; so that will be 3 days worth of Iced Coffee per carton for me; mhhh that would be less than $6 a week… for 5 drinks instead of 1 drink at the coffee house. I have to check this out…. let’s start the challenge.
Taste is great, add some whip cream and you have your very own great tasting Iced Coffee, any time, anywhere and for a fraction of the expensive Coffee house drinks; I think it’s worth the $3 ($4 without a coupon)….
Let the challenge begin; I will keep you posted on our progress on the Blog with follow ups as well as on Facebook and twitter; If you want to join the challenge, I would love to team up; Facebook me, or leave me a comment and we can keep track of this together…. what would your savings goal be? What are you saving for?
