Simple Pumpkin Decorations with Puff Paint

October 29, 2012 By Melanie Roberts 9 Comments

Fall pumpkins with paint decoration

I went to the local Michaels the other day to find some front porch fall decorations and something to keep the Princess entertained for the day. As most of you know from my previous post “Simple pumpkin decorations”, I don’t carve pumpkins. I have no clue how and where to start, another thing the pumpkins this year have been quite expensive.

I found a bunch of those “fake” pumpkins at Michaels for 60% off making them less then $5 depending on what size you get. I also had a 50% coupon and decided to pick up a package of Fabric Puff paint, but any kind of acrylic will do I’m sure.

Once I got home I let the Princess decorate her pumpkin any way she liked; she had a blast. It didn’t take long to dry at all and soon we where able to add her pumpkin on the front porch to join our Fall decorations.

Now our pumpkins can sit there throughout the fall and Thanksgiving season and can go into storage to be brought back next year. LOVE the idea of decorating the “fake” pumpkins, you can also see the change your little one has made over the “years” to come. From scribbles to actual drawings in years to come, collect all the pumpkins and keep them to be put back on the porch each year. Just make sure you write the year and the child’s name (if you have more then one) on the bottom somewhere so you will remember when they where very small….

This is such a cute idea. I like having them make a collection over the years to see how they have changed.

I like this idea. Its no mess, the pumpkin doesnt rot as fast and no gnats. Only problem is no seeds to roast. 🙂
