After our ordeal in Berlin, the long and somewhat “fast” ride on the Autobahn we are finally at Home in Kitzingen, Germany. We had a lot of things to do and lot of friends and family to see. Of course, everyone wants to be the first to visit with us and so we had a jam packed day.
We had a very good high school friend visit with us at our rental home and it was soo much fun; after that it was time to head to my mom’s house, the house where I grew up and to show the boys how “narrow” the street was; I really had the street “wider” in memory; did it shrink?? Boy one car fits through, barely, especially if others are parking on the side of the road; it looked somewhat the same, but different…. was a strange feeling after 12 years to come down my street.
My mom anxiously waited for us with Coffee and Cake and goodies for the kids; coffee and cake is a very popular thing in Germany; everyone will serve you coffee and cake and will be quit up sad if you decline. So I told Hubby to be prepared….lol
We had a nice visit with my Mom and her husband and the kids had a blast exploring the neighborhood and playing outside; we set off to go shopping… yup… we LOVE Shopping, so this was a lot of fun… while out every grocery store also has a coffee shop as well as a bistro that serves hot and cold food… Since it was way past lunch time and my Princess told everyone she was starving we ordered something for everyone, typical German of course. Hubby shared a HUGE Pork Knuckle with fries with the Tween, the teen had a Bratwurst with a roll and I shared a Curry Wurst with the Princess; to my surprise all that was less then $10!!!!!! WOW… 5 people fed for $10…. amazing…..
Once “lunch” was over, and all the shopping was done, we had to rush and meet my Grandma for Coffee and cake; was sooooo nice to see her again, I love my grandma and it was just wonderful to see her; she quickly grabed the phone and called my uncle and his family; they must have been waiting, because it took no time at all for them to arrive … they couldn’t wait to see us, just as much as I was excited to see them…… OHHHHHH
We had a great visit and had to cut it short since dinner time called and we had a dinner date with my mom and Aunt at a Greek restaurant, so we ran to the parking lot and on the way there was a wonderful playground, we had to let the kids play for a few minutes and off to dinner we went…..
SOOOO much fun; dinner was amazing and soo nice to meet some new family members and see my “old” ones; the restaurant was very nice, too… they kept giving us “USO” which is a Greek alcohol shot that you drink before, during and yes, after the dinner… free of charge….. Well, since my Teen is off age here and allowed to drink, I allowed him to have one… WELL….. he may not drink ever again ( my plan may have worked…hahah)… he thought it was nasty and he turned the others down quickly…..lol….. I knew I had a plan in mind….hahah
We are jam packed full of cakes, coffees and dinner.. when my mom announced that we will walk the City for a bit, and on our way, as in many German Cities we came across a Eis Tele (ICe Cream Place), well, needless to say, we all settled in and ordered “dessert”….. My all so beloved Spaghetti Ice… YUMMMM… the kids each ordered that as well… Hubby went and took pictures of the city, it was sooo beautiful…
Once everyone was full to the top, we walked it all off and took the kids to the playground, it must have been 8:30 by now and the sun was shining bright, no sunset in sight…. we spend a good hour at the playground and still no sunset…. how cool is that… it was beautiful outside, in the 70’s, sunshine and a slight breeze… the sun finally set I think around 11:30PM!!!! I love it.. that gives you soooo much time to spend with your family; at home in Florida, the sun sets at 7ish….
Boy, what a busy day we had…. we sure are exhausted and will rest tomorrow and maybe visit a Soccer Party… Hope you are enjoying our Journey through Germany so far… come along and check back in a few days…. we are very very limited to Internet; hardly any Free Wifi spots and it’s very hard to get passwords for internet access…. so I will post as much as I can when I can… keep checking the Facebook I have been posting pic’s there, since that’s easy to access on anyone’s PC… my Blog is only accessible through my own Pc’s…..
Until we meet again….. have a blast in Germany, we are off to enjoy another sunny day in Kitzingen.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us all. Have been enjoying checking out your Facebook pictures as well. Making me really want to visit Germany again! Loving your “insider” trip, a little different than traveling as just any tourist.

Melaine hate ti bug you again but I have a couple of questions to ask you if you have time. My wife and I both use cpap machines when we sleep. Will I have to have an adaptor for Germany. And also which is better renting a car or going with public transportation. Thanks so much for helping me.
