ZeroWater Filter System {Review}

August 30, 2011 By Melanie Roberts 6 Comments

We drink a lot of water in our house. Between the boys playing soccer and the Toddler playing outside a lot and my drink of choice is water as well, we go through a lot of bottle water.

The other day my Teen asked me if I had smelled our tap water, I just looked at him and wanted to know why? He said it had an awful smell and has a lot of chlorine. We usually have a pitcher with filters, but even the filter wasn’t strong enough to take out the chlorine taste that we have in the water.

I came across a company called ZeroWater. They claim to clean out the water with their filter and you will have nothing, 0, zip, null left but fresh clean water!

I had to test this, it may save me some money in the long run. I may not have to buy all those water bottles and we can use our tap water and fill up our sports bottles.

I got the system  a few weeks ago and we have used it a good 4-6 weeks now. I wanted to make sure it wasn’t a 1 or 2 time use deal, that was too good to be true. I took the water Dispenser and filter out of the box, cleaned it per instructions and within 15 min had the unit up and running, ready to make clean, clear water.

The Dispenser Unit even came with a Water Tester. I was curious to see the result. Check out some of our pic’s below. We made the test with our tap water before and after we ran it through the filter and I also used a bottle water  as well as another filtered water and tested the water in comparison.

  • Picture# 1 – Water from a water bottle reading was 004
  • Picture#2 –  Our Tap water inside the ZeroWater Dispenser not passed through the filer; reading was 146
  • Picture# 3 – a different water filter product with regular carbon filter; reading was 098, after 4 weeks of use.
  • Picture# 4 – Water from the ZeroWater Dispenser, our Cleaned TAP water; reading was 000 !!!

I’m quit impressed; what actually impresses me even more is how long this filter has lasted. The recommended time from the company was 25 – 40 gallons of water; we have been using this system for a good 4+ weeks every day and we are still at 000; recommended time to change is when the water testing level reads 006!!

What makes this system so unique? The filter!

  • It is a 5 stage filter which is more comprehensive.
  • Ion Exchange Technology as opposed to simple carbon only
  • Removes virtually all detectable dissolved solids

HOW DID WE LIKE THE WATER SYSTEM?
So far, we are very impressed with this system and the comparison between Tap, Bottle , another filter product and the ZeroWater quality. The Dispenser looks stylish in blue and is slim enough to fit inside the refrigerator or on your counter. My Toddler already knows how to use the system to get water, very simple to use. There are only 3 components to this system, the lid, the dispenser and the filter. Simple to put together and have fresh water in just a few minutes. I loved that the filer doesn’t have to sit for 15-20 min in water, like other filters have to before they can produce somewhat fresh water.

HOW DID THE WATER TASTE? I actually love the taste! It does taste clean and fresh and just clean. I don’t know how else to describe it. However, other people say they taste a “metal” taste in their water. I do taste that, but I like that taste. Doesn’t bother me at all and I prefer the Zero Water over any other brand or bottle in taste.

WHERE CAN I BUY ONE?
Amazon.com sells the entire Zero Water line from dispenser to replacement filters. But you can also find them at your local retailer like Target or Walmart. The ZeroWater dispenser retails for $39.99 and the Filter replacement retails for $29.99 for a set of two.

For more questions about the ZeroWater, be sure to check out ZeroWater’s website, while there you can grab one of their awesome coupons and Rebate Forms.

Stay tuned, ZeroWater will also be a proud sponsor of our Birthday Bash starting Monday September 5, 2011. You will get a chance to win one Unit and see for yourself how this system works.

I was provided with the product listed above for my honest review, all opinions and comparisons are 100% my own and no other compensation was nor will be received.

Wow that is impressive. I’m a Montana Water snob and I’ve been living in Utah for the past decade. I filter all of my water but the taste is still not the same as MT. Maybe this is the answer I’ve been needing. Thanks.

You mentioned you ran the water through a regular filter and it didn’t get it down to 0. Makes me wonder how close to 0 our reverse osmosis system gets it. At least it doesn’t smell like rotten eggs! I might have to check this out just to get the tester.

Jen.. yes the “Other ” filter I used was from another well known company that I actually always trusted and loved… and it brought it down to 90 something…. better than no filter, but ….wow…..
