Gooseberry Patch has done it again; they just released a wonderful Fall book 101 Hearty Recipes . I love the 101 Series, they have a nice large picture of the dish with every recipe; the books are spiral bound and full of yummy goodness. Fun & Filling like Santa Fe sandwiches to Tailgate Sandwich Ring; Speedy and Satisfying like Fancy Crescent Chicken or Au Gratin Sausage Skillet;Casual & Comforting like German Style Short Ribs or Slow Cooker Turkey Breast and not to forget the Baked & Buttery, yup that would include Almond Amaretto Bread Pudding, Orange Peach Dump Cake and Marshmallow Graham Custard…. but that’s not all, there are over 101 recipes in this amazing book. All recipes have been tested by Mom’s like you and me and are super easy and simple to prepare; your family will think you spend hours looking for the ingredients and also cooking it.

We love the Gooseberry patch books, they are always wonderful for a family to prepare and almost everyone loves the outcome. We decided on making Open Faced Lone Star Burgers; let me tell you.. these were amazing and so yummy; we had 10 burgers and 5 of us and fought over who gets the last one. Yummy, but so simple.

This is what you need to make the Open Faced Lone Star Burgers at home:

1/4 c. onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 t. dried thyme
1-1/2 c. shredded Colby Jack cheese, divided
1-1/2 lbs. ground beef
6 slices frozen garlic Texas toast
8-oz. can tomato sauce, 1 T. brown sugar, packed
1 t. Worcestershire sauce
1 t. steak sauce

This is how to make it:
In a large bowl, combine onion, garlic, thyme and one cup cheese. Crumble beef over top and mix well. Form into 6 oval-shaped patties. In a large skillet, cook patties over medium heat for 5 to 6 minutes per side, to desired doneness. Meanwhile, prepare toast according to package directions. Drain patties; set aside and keep warm. Add remaining ingredients to the skillet. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes, or until slightly thickened. Return burgers to skillet; turn to coat. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Serve burgers on toast. Makes 6 servings

  16. I have three children and they take turns making dinner one night a week. We have one Gooseberry cookbook and they love the ideas an recipes in it and have asked for another book like the one we have. The pictures make it easier for my kids to choose what they want to cook. My youngest son, who is 9, is the best cook.
