5 Fun Summer Getaways with Kids

School’s (almost) out for the SUMMER!!!!!!!! If you are still looking for summer ideas, I thought it would be fun to tell you about a few MUST see places if you have kids. Some are my favorite others are more educational, but still fun.

Disney….Being in Florida the biggest thing is probly Disney; every child should go see Disney one time; whether it be a Disney Cruise, Disneyworld, Disneyland or even Disney Paris. The memories will live on forever and will make every little or even big heart smile. We took our kids on a  Disney Cruise the last two years and we LOVED it; even the toddler who went on her first cruise when she was 18 month kept asking to go back on the Mickey Boat. Wonderful time and fun for the entire family.

The Beach; everyone at least once in their life should experience the Beach. We are very fortuned here in Central Florida, only a short hour driving distance away to the beach; it’s so much fun to see the kids build sandcastles, play in the waves and just spend a lazy afternoon or a relaxing week at the beach… Can’t beat that.

Washington DC is another great place to visit. My Tween and Teen went for 2 weeks to Washington DC last year to visit family and the pictures and memories they brought back are priceless. There is so much to do in Washington DC like the The Smithsonian, Washington Monument, and the National Zoo and best part they are all free to visitors.

The Grand Canyon is another wonderful place to visit with children; especially if you are from the East Coast, the mountains and the history out West is amazing; We spend a few days at the Grand Canyon and my Teen still talks about it; the train by the Canyon was his favorite, as well as all the hikes; This is a wonderful place for family trips; leave the cell phone and the PC at home, enjoy mother nature and your family all at the same time.

One Tank Trips … you don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars to take the kids places during the summer, look in your own backyard. Here in Central Florida we  can on a tank of gas hit Daytona Beach check out the Nascar Race, Nascar Museum or go West towards Tampa, Florida and spend time at the River, the lakes or just watch a  Hockey Game. These small trips will show you around your beautiful state and get you to notice the wonderful surrounding in your own backyard.

These are just a few ideas that are so much fun with the kids; Trust me as a Mom with a tween, a teen and a toddler, no matter where you go, your little ones will have found memories of Mom & Dad on vacation……my kids all time favorite is the Disney Cruise….!!!!! * and mine, too…lol *
