I have been on a mission to stock up on Vitamin C to give my Immune System as much support as I can. So I decided to share my top 5 things how I insure my family’s Immune Systems stays healthy in hopes to keep your family well, too.
1. Eat a well-balanced diet: That’s a must, cut out as much fast food and junk as you can and eat fresh veggies and fruit that are true to the season like squash, apples and all autumn fruits/veggies to get lots of extra vitamins. Down here in Florida we love our citrus fruits, they are perfect for a little extra Vitamin C. Stock up on your favorite fruits and snack away.
2. Take a supplement in addition to a well-balanced diet: I recently found Ester-C and their new product is a 24 hr. Immune Support supplement. I discovered the new product on one of my recent trips to Walmart while looking for a replacement supplement since mine wasn’t really doing a good job anymore. Ester-C is a Patented Immune Health Formula that Lasts Longer than Regular Vitamin C and stays in your system for 24 hours! It is carefully formulated to contain naturally occurring metabolites. Metabolites are a substance derived from other compounds (such as nutrients) during the process of metabolism. The metabolites in Ester-C® help enhance the retention of Vitamin C by your white blood cells for 24 hours, which are a vital component of your Immune System. It is manufactured using a unique, water-based process that combines Vitamin C with Calcium using no chemical solvents. This unique, chemical solvent-free manufacturing process neutralizes pH, making it non-acidic and gentler on the stomach than regular Vitamin C. There is a coupon available for $1 in case you like to try it, too.
3. Wash your hands often! I cannot stress this one enough, wash, wash and wash some more. I wash my hands a gazillion times a day. My kids know they have to wash their hands before they leave the house, enter the house and anytime they have any kind of contact with people, things or touch stuff. We carry hand sanitizer for in-between washing in our pockets, purse, car anywhere you name it, and we have a hand sanitizer handy in case we can’t wash our hands. I guess you can call me a little over protective, but washing germs of your hands can be the best defense to keep your Immune System in check. Take the few seconds it takes and wash your hands, go ahead, sing Happy Birthday 2 times while you are washing your hands and then you know you will be germ free.
4. Drink plenty of water! Water is just as important as a balanced diet. Drink as much water as you can day. I hardly ever drink anything else besides water and tea during the day. I rarely give the kids an option for soda, I usually offer them water and only for meals do they get a juice drink. The more water you drink the better hydrated your body will be and help you fight off any bug you may catch. I also like to switch out sodas for orange juice to add some extra Vitamin C along with our supplement.
5. Change your clothes! I know this may sound silly, but I make my kids and hubby change their clothes when they come in the house. Just think about it. They spent all day at school getting coughed at, touched and are around all those germs, just think they will enter your home. I make them change their clothes in hopes to leave as many germs as they can at the door (laundry room) and so far that has worked well for all of us. Do you make your family change their clothes, too?
