A #Simple way to decorate for #Christmas that won’t break your bank

November 30, 2012 By Melanie Roberts 9 Comments

Simple Christmas Decorations 2

For years I took all my everyday stuff like pictures, books etc off the shelf to make room for Christmas decorations. I love to decorate but could never figure out where to put all the things that I had sitting out throughout the year, just to make room for the Christmas stuff.

Leaving it wasn’t really an option, I hate clutter and that would clutter the house even more, so I would have to come up with a solution; and… that I did.

Simple Christmas Decorations 3

A few years ago, I realized that I could use my existing books and pictures in my Christmas décor; al I would have to do is wrap it in a pretty paper and it all will look like presents.. Voila… the idea was born and ever since I go out the days after Christmas and pick up pretty Christmas wrapping for pennies and those bows that come like 50 to a bag for usually under a buck as well;to decorate my house the following year. I always look for the fancy, sparkly paper that usually would be very expensive to buy and start thinking how I want to decorate the following year;

I never wrap the entire picture frame, just enough to cover the front, I’m not a neat wrapper, so this works perfect and I don’t need as much paper as if I would wrap the entire thing; then I sit it back in it’s spot and my frames will turn into instant Christmas decorations….

Simple as that… and a lot less money spend on expensive decorations, just wrap what you have already in the house, the best part…. if you have some odd Gifts that you can’t really hide anywhere, wrap them and make them part of the décor, my kids know I wrap fake gifts, so they never even think that the big box in the living room could actually be a present…lol.. Works ALL the time!!

Merry Christmas…

    What a great idea!! So very clever to wrap real presents and hide them in the decor, too. Love it and am certainly going to borrow this idea, thank you for sharing!

    That is it!! I have a room just for our tree this year and kept thinking how can I make the room more festive? It was the odd art work hanging on the wall that was throwing the room off for me. I’m going to wrap them today!! Thanks so much for the ideas

    These are great tips! What a fun way to be able to decorate more rooms in the house. Perhaps to let kids be able to decorate their own rooms too!
