I love Fall, a little cooler air is moving in down here in Florida and it’s by far my favorite time of the year. Decorate the house in fall colors, bring out the scarecrows and pumpkins and sit and watch the leaves fall and if you are lucky, even change colors.
Fall and apples are just like pumpkins and Thanksgiving; so I wanted to make something fall like yet Ribs were on sale for the Holiday weekend; how about combine the two and let’s see what will come out.
I found a great recipe in the Quick & Easy Autumn book from Gooseberry Patch. By now you know I love their books and all the yummy recipes. Some I tweak so we won’t have to run and pick up extra items others I make just the way they are. That’s the nice thing about any of the Gooseberry Patch recipes and books; you can match them to your needs and busy schedules and still have a yummy , homemade dinner.
This is what you will need:
Apple-Spice Country Ribs Crockpot Dinner |
- 2 to 3lbs. country pork ribs
- 3 baking apples, cored ad cut into wedges
- 2/3 c. apple cide
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1t. cinnamon
- 1 t. allspice
- 1/2t. salt
- 1/4t. pepper
- If bone-in ribs are used, slice into serving size portion. Place all ingredients in a sow cooker;
- stir to coat
- Cover and cook on low for 7 to 9 hours
- Serve over rice or mashed potatoes
We added a dash of red wine vinegar
* I forgot the Apple cider in the picture*
This is what it will look like……..Yup; that was in the Crockpot :0) Super easy and so yummy. The kids even fought over the ribs; guess I have to cock more next time. We added rice and Broccoli, but anything even Baked Beans and Coleslaw would be wonderful with this dish. Let dinner cook while you are having fun…:0) Enjoy…..

Wow – that sounds fabulous. I love the “fallish” twist on a meat that I really have only seen as a summer BBQ favorite. I’ll be watching ads for pork ribs. Thanks

I tried this for last night’s dinner. Pretty good, but I’d change it for the next time. I didn’t think it had a lot of flavor, so I’d plan on adding more cinnamon and allspice. Maybe we’re used to a bit more salt, but everyone added salt to the meal too. I enjoyed the all day aroma of the crockpot. I saw that today’s post was a chocolate dessert in the crockpot. I’ve never tried that; always have done the more traditional main meal. However, I’m going to use my crockpot more this season and may try something dessertish
