Don’t Throw Those Coupons Away!: A Mom’s Guide to Saving Money at the Grocery Store

Each week I try to bring you more savings tips and tricks so your hard earned green will stay in your pocket for all those wonderful things you WANT and not need. I have been couponing for over 3 years now and I saved well over $8,000.00 a year by doing so. It is amazing how much you can really save by buying the Sunday newspaper and watching the sales. I have a lot of people ask me how do you do it or help me learn. I don’t mind at all, I love to teach every single one of you how to coupon and how to start saving. But in the meantime I came across a wonderful book written by Kristin L. Peoples, called Don’t Throw Those Coupons Away! ” A mom’s Guide to saving Money at the Grocery Store“. Kristin put down in writing everything I been preaching to my family and friends. I couldn’t have written this any better. So if you would like a little pocket book with all the ins and outs about saving money at the grocery store, most defiantly go check out this book.

Kristin goes over the history of coupons in the US and then goes over anything you ever wanted to know from what does the coupon lingo mean and where to find all those coupons we’ve been talking about. She also goes over how to stockpile and while stockpiling is a wonderful thing for your family; I even learned something out of this book, she has a list for each month what usually goes on sale during that month, for example March usually has Frozen food because of Frozen Food Month, Ice Cream, waffles, Eggs, Ham, Asparagus, Horseradish, Butter, Coconut, Peanuts, Potatoes and Corned Beef… that is one thing I wasn’t able to pinpoint even after 3 years of couponing; I remember a few items each year but a list is a wonderful thing. So now I can always see what will be in the month ahead and make sure I have coupons for those categories or I could even skip a sale if I think it’s not that good knowing in 2 month the same item may be back on sale. I loved that. Very useful, Thanks Kristin.

This is a wonderful book that will give you a quick crash course on how to start saving.. anything you ever wanted to know is in the book. She also goes over certain stores on how they use coupons, I have to say, living in the south, none of the stores in her book sounded familiar to me like Delhaize, Kroger, Piggly Wiggly, Super Valu or Safeway; but none the less the info was wonderful. She also went over the drugstore strategy, which is completely different then the grocery stores….
